Job Title:        Director, Business Development, Product Identification Platform
Department:   Business Development  
Reports To:    Vice President, Business Development & Strategy, Product Identification Platform
Location:        Chicago (Wood Dale), IL, USA


Danaher is looking for a Business Development professional to contribute to the inorganic buildout of its $2B+ Product Identification Platform comprised of Videojet Technologies, Esko, X-Rite / Pantone and several others.  The Director, Business Development will specifically drive inorganic strategy and oversee deals for Product Identification Platform. The position has runway to an M&A career track at Danaher. With a strong M&A track record of over 15 deals per year, over $2.5B in annual free cash flow and a strong balance sheet, Danaher is poised to invest to win. 


Key objectives:
• Serve as project leader in building out markets and target company diligence
• Assist in aggressively growing the size of the business over the next three to five years through a combination of above-industry organic growth and strategically attractive acquisitions that will deliver strong returns on capital
• Build an M&A funnel through strategic gap analysis and adjacent market work
• Cultivate mid- near- and long-term target relationships
• Acquisition diligence


The successful candidate will:
• Become the expert on adjacent and non-adjacent spaces through primary, proprietary market work
• Connect disaggregated technical and commercial domains to identify sources of value
• Simplify the complex to enable decision making
• Rapidly identify and communicate the business levers that define winning and losing
• Convince senior decision makers of market attractiveness
• Partner with Danaher’s Corporate Development team to successfully execute deals

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Preferred background:
• 5+ years evaluating the market attractiveness and strategic fit of new businesses/markets/domains
• Specific and current domain experience in B2B enterprise software businesses preferred (e.g. native and or transitioning SaaS-based models, workflow based SW solutions, developing / deploying SW to shift to digital business models)
• 3-5 years in a top-tier consulting firm or equivalent experience focused on market analysis and/or growth/strategy commercial projects
• Undergraduate degree in technology (engineering / sciences) and top tier MBA required
• Substantial experience and/or formal education that has allowed the development of a deep understanding of a domain and/or industry resulting in key customer insights and empathy
• 2-5 years’ experience executing in a non-consulting role
• Participated in 1-5 closed outside or inside diligence projects
