Description

We are currently seeking a Design Engineer/ Senior Design Engineer to support our growing business.

Position Objective: 

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer with experience in designing pressure vessels to work for a large, dynamic and fast paced global organisation. As a Design Engineer/ Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for generating Engineering Design packages in accordance with customer and Pall procedural requirements. As well as supporting Continuous Improvement projects and providing technical support to other internal and external functions.

Role and Duties:

  • Design and validate products to customer requirements, relevant design standards/codes and Pall procedures. Design package includes Engineering Drawings, Vessel Calculations, quality plans, weld/NDE maps, NOBO Submission documents and technical files for reference/archive.
  • Create appropriate Engineering Schedules and Bills of Materials and complete all databases to facilitate release of orders within agreed timescales.
  • Monitor and report on deviations from customer and contract requirements.
  • Provide technical support for other internal and external functions (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Applications, Sales and customers).
  • Provide engineering solutions to internal non-conformances (rejects), customer issues (CORs) and engineering change requests (ECRFs) within agreed timescales.
  • Implement and support continuous improvement actions/projects and best practice replication throughout the company
  • Understand and influence engineering performance measures
  • Implement actions as instructed by the Technical Manager
  • Mentor and guide new/young engineers

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications/ Experience: 

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering however candidates qualified by experience will still be considered

  • Experience in Pressure vessel design and manufacture inc. pressure vessel design codes and guides: ASME, EN13445, PD5500, AD Merkblatter, PED, ATEX.

  • Contract/Project Management inc. liaison with Suppliers, Customers and Sub-Contractors

  • Knowledge of pressure vessel products in a broad range of industries (Examples: Oil & Gas, Petrochem, Bio-Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage)

  • CAD/CAE: Advanced User of 3D Design Software (preferrably Solid Edge) & 2D Mechanical Desktop

  • Calculations: Experienced in producing vessel calculations from both first principles and relevant software (e.g. Finglow, VVD, PV Elite, etc) 

  • Self-starting individual able to manage and deliver targets for multiple projects

  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Willingness to research and take engineering decisions
