Position Summary and Overview

This position is responsible for leading the Danaher Business System and Project Management within Leica Biosystem’s global quality, regulatory and clinical (QRAC) organization.  Plays a critical role in architecting and delivering against Leica’s 3-year QRAC strategic vision.  Develops plans and manages complex projects to drive sustainable improvements particularly in the area of global processes.  Will also drive project milestones, meeting budgetary requirements and communications to stakeholders.  The DBSL QRAC solves problems, establishes systems and takes a broad perspective to identify solutions.  Effectively applies knowledge of quality and regulatory to perform role while also effectively engaging with subject matter experts and team members.

Major Responsibilities

  • Serve as DBSL, with project management responsibilities, for Leica’s global QRAC organization.  Will drive improvements, create and/or streamline processes with responsibilities for complex and multi-site projects.

  • Drive sustainable DBS tools, methods, practices, and mindset.  Champion DBS across the global QRAC organization and establish sustainable growth of future DBS practitioners.

  • Responsible for managing multiple projects while meeting timelines, budgets and resource allocation according to requirements of the business.  

  • Work collaboratively with resource owners to define needs and expectations. Establish and maintain effective communication channels with all stakeholders.

  • Responsible for tracking and reporting KPIs and other performance metrics. 

Job Requirements


Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science, medical, engineering, or technical field and 3+ years’ experience in the medically-regulated sector.

  • Related experience includes 3+ years managing projects in a global, matrixed environment.

  • Currently serving as a DBSL, Project Manager, or has the equivalent qualifications and experience (e.g. six-sigma, lean methodologies, Kaizen, etc.).

  • Must have working knowledge of medical device quality systems and regulatory requirements.

  • Project Management certification is highly desirable.

  • Experience with in Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) is very beneficial and highly desirable


  • DBS and kaizen leadership/facilitation skills demonstrated by current DBSL status or equivalent.  Foundation in DBS fundamentals with proven experience using other tools to drive results and continuous improvement.

  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and deliver on-time and on-budget.

  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal/written/presentation/relationship building) with ability to work collaboratively with team members, resource owners, senior management, and stakeholders.  

  • Ability to resolve and manage team dynamics and conflicts

  • Ability to lead and influence in a complex, multi-site environment

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • High level of initiative, self-motivation and energy.

  • High level of integrity

Travel % of Travel, include approximate overnight stays per week

  • Travel expectations for this role is medium (25-35%).


  • This role is global.  Home office to be at one of Leica’s global sites.  These include Richmond, IL, Buffalo Grove, IL, Vista, CA, Danvers, MA or Cincinnati, OH
