Description

Crate Builder/Material Handler - 1st Shift

Work Schedule: 6:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Monday through Friday

 

This position is responsible to safely perform job functions at the highest level of quality. It is also responsible for providing accurate paperwork and record keeping. Must have knowledge of Hazardous Waste Handling and have the ability to follow all company rules, policies and OSHA/EPA regulations. Must adhere to RCRA requirements.  The Box/Crate Builder is responsible for building shipping crates and also the packaging of parts that will properly protect them while in transit.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
   
Primary Responsibilities:

* Build wooden crates for product shipment and repack orders for shipment
- Cut wood planks and panels
- Create frame structures
- Nail/screw together

* Utilize measuring tape, panel saw, screw guns, nail guns, various packaging equipment
* Calculate crate size based on Internal Dimensions needed
* Operate forklift to move crates or materials when necessary
* Ability to read blueprints for the building of custom crates as required by our customers

Secondary Responsibilities:

* Pick and stage material for production lines.
* Receive inbound shipments.
* Ship outbound material.
* Load and unload material from various carriers.
* Warehouse/SAP administration tasks.
* Cycle count and physical inventory.
* Housekeeping and other 5S activities.
* Properly store all warehouse materials.
* Must be knowledgeable of Hazardous Waste Handling.
* Responsibility and adherence of RCRA requirements.
* All related/corresponding activities.
* Use computers and scanners to perform transactions.
* Interpret work order and sales order material/delivery requirements.
* Follow and abide by defined business processes and procedures.
* Work with members of supply chain to resolve issues and improve processes.
* Communicate professionally with others.
* Responsible for accurate and complete inventory transactions in SAP.
* Investigate and correct transactions as required.
* Maintain a safe work area, participate in safety training and follow all defined OSHA guidelines.

* Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe work conditions to supervisor.
* Participate on continuous improvement teams.
* Assist with the training of other material handlers.
* Work to gain knowledge of all warehouse activities.
* Perform tasks accurately and timely.
* Participate in the updates/maintenance of organizational KPIs.
* Work with limited supervision.
* Assist operations on the Shipping/Receiving dock as needed
* Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Carpentry skills strongly preferred
* Forklift experience preferred; must pass Pall certification requirements.
* Must be familiar with other warehouse equipment to included pallet jacks, docking stations, scales.
* Computer skills required; SAP experience preferred.
* Must be able to work any shift and be flexible to work overtime as needed.
* HazMat experience preferred.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Must be able to work in a ware house environment, which requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling and lifting 50lbs on a regular basis.
* Three years of material handling experience, shipping and receiving experience preferred.
* Understanding of requirements for LTL, small parcel, exports, UPS/FedEx.
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
