Beckman Coulter is a Danaher company, operating in two industries: Diagnostics and Life Sciences. 


This critical leader is responsible for promoting and facilitating the successful implementation of the Danaher Business System (DBS) in production facilities within Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. Primary location is in our Chaska, MN campus. Expansion of DBS culture and methods is the key enabler to develop and engage associates and achieve annual Policy Deployment (PD) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets. This position reports to Director Operations for U.S. Central Manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive targeted, sustainable improvement in Quality, OTD, Margin Expansion, and Working Capital turns and related KPI’s/objectives by leveraging DBS tools, facilitation skills, and the change management process.
  • Assist functional Leadership in the development of a DBS Roadmap (how to use the DBS tools to drive sustainable improved results).
  • Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching.
  • Facilitate other DBS training sessions when appropriate (other trainers and consultants from Danaher, Shingijutsu or other).
  • Regularly participate in operations reviews.
  • Ensure successful kaizen events by rigorous execution of process (planning of kaizen events, execution of week, follow through and sustainment)
  • Improve DBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in relevant tools. 
  • Promote and facilitate associate development in various DBS tools and kaizen leadership. Evaluate and approve associates for certified practitioner program.
  • Benchmark and incorporate best practices from other Danaher locations and build business cases to prioritize investments that help us move closer to industry best practices that are applicable to our operations & supply chain.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications and Critical Skills
  • Significant practitioner experience applying lean principles in a variety of situations in functions/areas supporting Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing, and Engineering. 
  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a senior leader’s point of view.
  • Self-driven, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult and/or ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated customer focus and strong interpersonal and communications skills. Viewed by others as a change agent.
  • Ability to work independently, in teams, and complex matrix environments across multiple geographies.
  • Strong facilitation and teaching skills. Can collaborate with and effectively influence and coach all levels of the organization.
  • Full cycle project management skills.
Required Education and Experience
  • BS or BA Degree in Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business required with 9+ years of experience in related field, or Master’s degree with 7+ years of related experience in related field, or PhD with 4+ years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' direct application of lean/continuous improvement experience in functional areas supporting Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing, and Engineering. 
  • Prefer candidates to have prior experience in materials or production leadership roles.
  • Understanding of good manufacturing practices and global regulations for production of medical devices.
  • Professional writing and administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel.
