Description

The Danaher Business System (DBS) is our proven system for achieving success at Danaher.  It drives every aspect of our culture and performance.  We use DBS to guide what we do, measure how well we execute, and drive a continuous cycle of change and improvement.

The Continuous Improvement Leader -  DBS Leader will be responsible for promoting, driving and facilitating the successful implementation of the Danaher Business System with a focus on growth - Marketing, Engineering and Sales, and transactional process improvements within Devicor (TAS), allowing Devicor (TAS) to meet Policy Deployment (PD) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets – Daily Management. This position will oversee the implementation of sustainable process improvements and will be responsible for measuring and reporting results to ensure strategic initiatives deliver the expected business benefits. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES):

This position focuses on three main areas: 1) growth, 2) transactional process improvement, and 3) overseeing DBS in all areas of Devicor (TAS). 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

DBS Strategy and Execution
  • Drives targeted, sustainable improvement that is tied to Policy Deployment (PD) and Daily Management (DM) by leveraging DBS tools, consulting skills, and change management process. 
  • Works closely with Devicor (TAS) management to implement and maintain Devicor (TAS) strategic plan for driving continuous improvement in targeted areas – 1/ Growth - Marketing, Engineering, and Sales and 2/ TPI – HQ functions, through defined DBS processes. 
  • Assists in the development of improvement roadmaps for Devicor (TAS) functions (i.e., how to use the DBS tools to drive sustainable improvement in results).
  • Leads Devicor (TAS) Kaizen funnel to support PD and Daily Management priorities. Reports progress to the Devicor    (TAS) management team
  • Assists Devicor (TAS) in the deployment and sustainment of DBS tools for targeted Devicor (TAS) functions , including DBS Fundamental tools (PSP, DM/VM), Product Planning Group (PPG), Accelerated Product Development (APD), Speed Design Review (SDR), Lean Software Development (LSD), and others.
  • Supports focused deployment of tools across the organization like PSP and DM/VM to assure excellence in specific areas
  • Ensures successful kaizen events by installing and ensuring compliance to the kaizen process which includes; (1) planning of kaizens with a dynamic funnel process tied to PD and Daily Management, (2) kaizen execution, and (3) sustainment of kaizens.
  • Drives awareness and interest in the different functions on DBS Tools
  • Supports Devicor (TAS) President in PD definition and execution 
  • Participates in Daily Management reviews.
  • Communicates to the organization DBS progresses
Organization and People
  • Supports the Devicor (TAS) management in nominating, developing and maintaining DBS experts (e.g., master black belt) across the organization: evaluates and approves employees for MBB certification
  • Is fully synchronized with the LBS DBS organization
  • Creates a community of process professionals throughout LBS, Dx platform, Danaher to advance and accelerate DBS deployment. 
  • Promotes and facilitates diagnosis of work flow impediments throughout the business and provides expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them.
  • Collaborates with internal and external business partners for the purpose of benchmarking performance and knowledge building of industry best practices to guide decisions for implementation of projects. 
  • Directly provides formal and informal DBS training and coaching, and facilitates other DBS training sessions when appropriate.
  • Promotes and facilitates employee development in various DBS tools and kaizen leadership.
  • Improves DBS training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in DBS tools.
  • Recognizes and advises management on associates living DBS – “DBS is our way of life”

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in an Engineering, Sales or Marketing role, including a range of projects, with a proven track record of driving process improvements required.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency applying Lean principles in a variety of situations. 
  • Proficient in Lean / DBS environment, including Kaizen (continuous improvement) design and facilitation, Policy Deployment usage, and Fundamental DBS tools preferred.
  • Experience operating in an FDA-regulated industry like medical device industry strongly preferred.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, or a related field, required. 
  • MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
General Skills/Competencies/Specialized Knowledge
  • Ability to champion DBS core policies and develop best practices across diverse business environments.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally while leading through influence. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time; both domestic and international travel is required.
  • Typical work related travel assignments range 3-5 days, and as such overnight, out-of-town stays are required.
