The role of this position is to coach and mentor design teams on how to apply basic and advanced compliance knowledge of regulatory and engineering test and evaluation principles to support development, sustaining and production activities with little supervision or guidance to the testing, certification and design of electronic instrumentation. This role will also collaborate with Danaher Water Group strategic compliance team on interpretation and implementation of new and revised regulations to ensure OTT HydroMet meets compliance standards. 

  • The Product Compliance Engineer, in consultation with the Strategic compliance team, develops the compliance requirements and deadlines for product and projects. The Engineer, Compliance generally follows predetermined approaches for the testing to be performed, while keeping the strategic compliance team informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications. Completed work is generally reviewed for legal/ formality completeness and accuracy in meeting requirements or expected results stated within reports and documentation material.  
  • Actively tracks developments in the regulatory compliance community and incorporates requirements where appropriate 
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of the compliance field and skills in applying this knowledge to the development, testing and certification of OTT HydroMet products. 
  • Will participate in compliance related preliminary and critical design reviews of OTT HydroMet products 
  • The Engineer, Compliance uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instruction, is able to address deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations not covered by instructions to the OTT HydroMet leadership and Strategic Compliance Team. Finished work and methods are generally accepted as technically accurate and compliant with regulations and established procedures 
  • Develop methods and software for the testing of OTT HydroMet products for compliance with regulatory standards. 
  • Write or direct the writing of compliance related procedures and reports 
  • Regulatory agency point of contact for FCC, NB, NRTL, IC, etc.
  • The liaison with the body responsible for the verification of the quality system with respect to intended updating of the quality system. (NOTE: for “substantial” updating relevant to the type of protection, or any update having consequences on product compliance) 
  • Provides knowledge in the compliance testing and engineering disciplines to project or business engineers and managers, including the review and sign-off of ECO’s for compliant products and the determination of impact on product compliance.

Job Requirements


  • Minimum BS/diploma in Electrical Engineering or physics preferred 
  • Minimum of 5 years in similar role
  • Strong global communication skills
  • 10-20 % travel required

  • RF Design 
Continuously acquire new knowledge and skills as they relate to compliance and OTT HydroMet products 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Stays self-motivated and properly prioritizes with ongoing tasks 
  • Strong technical writing skills 
  • Can work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously 
  • Capable of coaching associates with different levels of compliance knowledge to a successful design outcome.
  • Has strong breadth of knowledge for safety and EMC/wireless/FCC.
  • Strategic team can coach ROHS, WEEE, REACH, ISO, etc., knowledge of commonly used circuits and compliance testing techniques
  • Can make the right call under high business pressure
  • Strong global communication skills. Effective at working face to face and remotely.
  • Familiar with standard stage gate development processes. Has experience coaching NPD project teams through the design process to ensure compliant designs.
