Description

The incumbent will lead day to day production and quality control activities within the value stream cell while conforming to the company’s culture of quality, service and continuous improvement, taking personal responsibility for his/her own actions while treating fellow employees, customers and vendors respectfully and ethically.

  • Interface with Production Supervisor on daily tasks such as associate planning and cell resource needs
  • Lead EHS 4E Programs; performing audits and holding Team Meetings; Update EHS Daily Management Board. 
  • Ensure daily operations are running on schedule; checking delay report and delay risks.
  • Communicate and support daily production activities.  Ensure operators are working on assigned task issued by Production Supervisor and/or Value Stream Manager and or Engineering.  
  • Provide technical support to operators when needed.
  • Ensure Daily Management Board is accurately presenting cell output and input (data collection is accurate and up to date).
  • Train CNC and QC Operators on all facets of production cell, process requirements, product specifications (Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Work, Total Productive Manufacturing, Problem Solving)
  • Lead machine utilization based on Takt and Capacity
  • Ensure and reinforce associates are aware of important announcements 
  • Plan machining work priorities (FIFO), materials, specifications, and machining parameters.
  • Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
  • Fill in to support in work cell in the event of resource shortage
  • Program mills by zeroing and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation (if necessary). Calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry.
  • Load feed mechanism/ machine by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, or first-run part, and or sample workpieces.
  • Maintain specifications by detecting defects; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Perform Daily, Weekly, Monthly TPM (Preventative Maintenance).

  • Maintain First -In-First Out (FIFO); monitoring delays and delay risk to ensure On-Time-Delivery (OTD
  • Maintain area cleanliness and safety (5s) 
  • Perform all TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) requirements

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma (college, technical, or trade preferred) or equivalent 5 years of related work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with CNC 5-Axis, or 3+2 type machines, or equivalent
  • Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments CMM, Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales. 
  • Expert in PCS, and SAP. Knowledge of MS office and MS Windows
  • Knowledge of safety and hazardous material regulations - OSHA General Industry Regulation. 
  • Expert with reading and editing G code will be expected. 
  • Expert knowledge of working directly from blueprints, drawing and or specification
  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.  Able to check tooling and identify defective tools.  Expert knowledge of performing tool offsets to make a part according to specification.
  • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for calculating material fabrication. 
  • Basic English proficiency at a High School level both in oral communications and reading comprehension
  • Prior experience working in a Medical Device Manufacturing Setting

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in set-up of CNC lathes, CNC horizontal milling and CNC vertical milling machines 
  • Solid CAM, Solidworks and Haas experience is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of three (3) DBS Kaizen Principles e.g. standard work, variation reduction (VRK) and Problem Solving Process (PSP).  Must be able to identify areas that could improve in efficiency, thereby contributing to continuous improvement.
