About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic Chief Systems Architect to join our team!  Reporting directly to the Director of Research and Development you will serve as the technical leader in Beckman Coulter urinalysis R&D, and provide technical directions in the development of next generation of IVD systems and enhancement of legacy systems.
This is a very challenging position as we expect the Chief Systems Architect to demonstrate the technical leadership in critical R&D projects and collaborate with key stakeholders to map the blueprints for future technologies in IVD systems.
The final, and definitely the most important, part of the position is we work on a product where failure is not an option. People depend on our product to make life saving decisions so we put in the effort and discipline upfront so we can sleep every night knowing our customers, and ultimately patients, are getting a product you can trust your life with.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements   

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field with no less than 12+ years, or Master’s degree with 8+ years, or PhD degree with 6+ years of experience in industry.

Special Skills Requirements
• Demonstrated experience in a R&D Chief Architect or similar technical leadership role at prior job(s).
• Proven track of record in launching products and delivering key milestones.
• Proficient knowledge in various engineering fields (ME, EE, Systems, Optics, Fluidics, and Imaging Algorithm, etc).
• Extensive experience in developing large, complex medical devices or diagnostics instruments.
• Deep understanding of customer requirements and product development requirements.
• Excellent planning, coordination, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity of entire product development cycle is a must.
• Familiarity and experience of applying statistical tools a plus.
• Prior experience in systems configuration management – highly desired.
• Prior experience in quantifying, planning and enhancing system reliability – desired.
• Prior working experience in an FDA-regulated environment within the IVD industry 
• Prior experience in developing urinalysis, hematology, clinical chemistry, immunoassay, and other IVD instrumentation.
• Prior experience in program / project management a plus.
• Proven ability to promote a culture of teamwork and willingness to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
• History of driving project execution and timely delivery while ensuring a quality focus.
• Ability to work well with people and be both highly motivated and motivating.
• Ability to make difficult decisions during various product development phases.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment where continuous improvement is a way of life.
• Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal direction.
• Excellent communication skills. Ability to interface with various internal and external stakeholders. Ability to present milestones and stage gates to senior executives.
• Ability to travel as needed.
