We have an open head count for a San Diego, CA based scientist who can support our cellular imaging products.  This position is responsible for carrying out demos, presentations, customer trainings and troubleshooting as requested by the Sales team and management.  This position directly reports to the Manager of North American Field Applications Scientists.  This is an entry level position within the Field Applications team with career development opportunities within the Field Applications team, Sales team, Marketing team and Product Development team.

Key Responsibilities:

The scientist in this role will need to be able to provide scientific, technical and application support for both pre- and post- sales activities.  They will be responsible for scheduling and managing demos, as well as scheduling instrument trainings.  This role will be working closely with the sales team to identify customer needs and ensure we are providing the correct solution to our customers. This will include helping customers justify equipment purchases by offering assistance in assay development, data generation and presenting results at the conclusion of a demo.  The expectation will be that they are able to develop and present complex materials to customers in an easy to understand manner while being able to professionally handle objections and questions.  A key to success will be promoting customer satisfaction by providing product and application information, answering inquiries, investigating complaints and taking appropriate action to resolve issues.  This role will be crucial to developing customer relationships and collaborations to facilitate the preparation of materials for technical materials, seminars, scientific meetings and other publications.  They will act as the “voice of customer” and help bridge the communication between end-users and out internal development groups and management teams.  They will participate in market development activities by expanding our knowledge of the competition and marketplace.

Job Requirements


  • An advanced degree in Biological Sciences, or equivalent.  
  • 2 – 3 years hands-on experience with imaging instrument required.  Experience with MetaMorph or similar software preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills are essential, complimented by a solutions-oriented track record.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and training skills.
  • The ability to prioritize activities to facilitate a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • A high degree of creative ability and initiative, and the ability to operate in an independent environment, while still being a “team player”.
  • Proven skills at developing multi-level and multi-functional relationships with a variety of personalities; including customers, field-based and in-house support personnel and highly motivated sales staff.
  • Must have the ability to travel overnight 75%
