The Buyer is responsible for developing production/supply plans that take into account forecasts, availability of material and manufacturing capacity. Is responsible for identifying and maintaining the appropriate planning parameters in ERP systems to optimize subassembly production and raw material supply plans. May also be responsible for providing materials to manufacturing areas based on planned production schedules.


  • Places and manages purchases orders in accordance with MRP, Kanban signals, PSI plan and related planning data.

  • Works closely with manufacturing and suppliers to prioritize, expedite and de-expedite purchase orders responsibilities based on material availability, department resources, changing requirements and customer service requirements.

  • Manage the assigned value streams including the management of inventory turns improvement, backorder reduction and coordinating activities with other buyers and departments.

  • May support new product development process and support supply chain planning activities at the new product team level.

  • Manage, monitor and update Kanbans for assigned value streams and production cells.

  • Lead DMPs and Kanban implementation including calculation of the bin quantity and size, coordinating supplier requirements and daily management requirements.

  • Analyzes lead times, safety stocks and lot sizes to determine resource requirements and constraints.

  • Participates in cross-functional project teams related to planning, purchasing and process improvement initiatives.

  • Manage and maintain inventory levels to the company goals at the raw, spares, and finished good levels.

  • Monitors and understands key planning parameters such as safety stocks, buffer stocks and lot sizes.

  • Support special projects related to material planning, purchasing, system changes and inventory management.

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree  

  • 2+ years of experience in materials planning, production control or master scheduling

  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing and supplier management

    • Experience with lean concepts/tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, Kaizen and Problem-solving Process

    • Understanding of production flow principles and processes

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) including Pivot tables, V-Lookups, etc.


  • APICS Certification

  • Strong working knowledge and apply the principles of planning/pull system and MRP

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and JIT principles and supply chain logistics including DBS tools and how to apply them in the appropriate situation.

  • Strong knowledge of MRP, Kanban and Pull Systems

  • Understanding of production principles and processes

  • SAP Experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with many levels and types of people

  • Good written, oral and presentation skills(communication)

  • Problem solving and solid business decision making skills

  • Planning and organizational ability

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skill
