Description

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for general management, sales and P&L of a product line (or lines) within a matrix organization. In direct coordination with Sales, Marketing, Product Planning, Service, Operations, Procurement, Engineering and R&D, this individual will ensure quality, profitability, growth and strategic leadership of the assigned product line(s) on a global basis.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Global Sales and P&L Ownership
• Working very closely with the regional leaders, the BUM owns the sales growth and P&L for their products (equipment, supplies and parts)
• In-depth knowledge of customers, segments, competitors, channels and product will be required to support the local regions to meet/exceed their sales and profit targets
• Work with Engineering and Operations drive and support Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE) – reduce costs of existing products through feature changes/eliminations 
Business Development and Strategy Plan
• Develop product line strategy plan: 1-3 year vision, commercial focus and compliments Videojet overall strategy plan and product planning
• Support annual Videojet strategy plan by assisting with market sizing, growth, players, and segmentation
• Support Business Development on potential acquisition targets and/or partnerships
Opportunity Development & Field Support
• Get to Gemba (point of impact/field) to really understand customer, competitor and market dynamics
• Assist with positioning, understanding of pain points and help form plan of attack for opportunities
• Assist with opportunities with site visits, tailored materials, etc., as needed
Product Development and Product Launches
• Assist in new product development in equipment, supplies, parts and service working with Product Planning, Sales & Service and Engineering
• Forecast demand and work with Ops on inventory/logistics 
• Develop global plans for launch and develop internal support material
• With Marketing, review/approve marketing materials, develop target customer segments and develop appropriate demand generation campaigns
Sales Support and Training
• Develop comprehensive materials and tools to help sales win opportunities. These include fight sheets, value selling documents, ROI/TCO tools, solution guides, etc.
• Tools & materials must be relevant to local markets and incorporate input globally
• Create/update training materials – topics include applications, products, competitive assessments, etc.
• Provide training on key areas to sales and other customer facing groups and develop on-line testing and verification of competencies, etc.
Maintenance of Line/Escalations - Quality
• Lead activities to address bugs, updates, upgrades and enhancements, and drive items to completion 
• Prioritize list against competing items to provide direction to Engineering
• Assure critical MOL items are incorporated into new product development
• Monitor the quality (and escalations) of the product, supplies and parts and drive to resolution any issues that arise
Campaigns and Marketing
• Recommend and assist as needed in campaign ideas to generate leads
• Assist the Vertical team in generating content and messaging for target verticals
• Identify any non-target verticals, that are important to TTO/TIJ and develop any necessary vertical content/campaigns
Price
• Own price globally and help regions execute locally
• Develop forward strategy early in budget process/Develop price strategy annually
• Assist regions with root cause and counter measures on price misses
Competitive Evaluation
• In depth understanding of competitors, their products and strategies with an eye to understand their full positioning and plans of attack
• For immediate benefits, drive actionable commercial responses to competitive moves 
• Longer term, develop strategies and products, as required

Qualifications

• Ability to monitor customer churn and assess how to sustain at-risk accounts
• Possess the ability to lead, influence and shape opinion among a peer group of senior managers  
• Possess the ability to work with all functions to deliver strong P&L performance and growth
• Successfully deliver results while quickly adapting to changing priorities and unforeseen challenges
• Uphold complete accountability for all things relating to the product line(s), regardless of functional responsibility
• Ensure year-over-year improvement in out of box quality and delivery as experienced by our end user customer
• Work cross functionally via influence and business leadership to drive optimal price/value capture by key segment and deliver results through impactful PPV and VAVE initiatives

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelors (ideally in a technical or engineering discipline) 
• Master’s in Business (ideally with a concentration in general management) a plus
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience in a commercial environment, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in a product or marketing management role
• Highly computer literate (especially in Excel and PowerPoint) 
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including international travel
