The Biotech PASS Solutions Architect will assume responsibility for the developing tailored upstream and downstream process solutions utilizing the full catalog of PALL platform technologies (upstream & downstream unit operations) and execution capabilities to meet the customers process needs, time lines and budget requirements. Additionally, provide feasibility studies on facility layout and utility requirements and during the pre-order sales activities. By providing upfront process and engineering expertise through face to face clarification meetings with the clients, the Biotech Solutions Architect will develop detailed end-to-end process solutions for commercial production suites for the Biotech market. This includes standard (platform) and customized technology to support monoclonal antibody, recombinant protein and viral vector production lines. Meet customer basic insight by delivering end to end biotech process solutions within specification, on time and within budget. The Architect will be the key enabler to ensure early stage technical consulting of such opportunities to meet customer requirements and achieve business objectives (KPIs).

Primary Responsibilities:

Support our commercial team with technical process expertise in the early pre order discussions, consulting period. Define and discuss our USP/DSP technology portfolio and project execution capabilities, in the context of the customers process needs and facility requirements.

Perform technical review of initial customer enquiry (RFI, RFP, etc.)

Develop a turn-key, integrated technical solution based on the customer’s process needs by performing the following as required:

Review process descriptions and process flow diagrams

Review/perform process mass balance

Develop initial equipment list

Develop conceptual layouts, material, personnel, and equipment flows for customers utilizing standard PALL tools

Partner with Engineering team to develop equipment costing for custom equipment

Development of customer Automation and Validation Strategy.

Assist with economic modeling (stainless steel vs. single use, etc.)

Work closely with PALL Process Development Services (SLS) on process development results to verify adjust equipment sizing based on process needs, etc.

Provide technical support to Project Management team in the development of final proposals for the delivery of turn-key integrated solution

Provide technical process engineering services to support URS, FRS, development as required.

Support the Project Management team during project execution as required.

Maintain agreed to timelines for deliverables in support of the sales opportunity

All deliverables must fully meet customer process specification, on time and within calculated budget.

Skills and Knowledge:

Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to serve as the face of Pall in stakeholder/customer facing situations

Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets

Techno-commercial skills to fully understand customer needs based on process requirements with subsequent translation into a potential solution offering.

Job Requirements


Bachelor’s/Master degree in chemical/bioprocess engineering, project management, or related field;

8+ years previous experience in bioprocess engineering (USP/DSP), operations, process development or project management within the life sciences industry – with a focus on bioprocess engineering disciplines (process development, design, commissioning, and validation)

Previous experience in performing equipment sizing and selection based on mass balance criteria’s

Previous experience in performing verification and qualification activities such as (DQ, FAT, SAT, commissioning and verification/qualification)

Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite; working knowledge of project management software (Basecamp, MS Project)

8+ years of industrial experience (biotechnology and pharma) in engineering or manufacturing operations

Practical application of pharmaceutical / biologics regulations.

Experience managing both internal and vendor resources.

Travel upwards 50% - international and domestic

Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Additional languages aside English such as Spanish etc. is a plus.
