Our Automation and Controls R&D Team is looking forward to welcome a


BIO Process Engineer 


 


 


Position Objective:


This is a unique chance to work for a large and dynamic global organization and to join the Analytics and Controls R&D team. You will work within the R&D group to develop instrumentation, new technologies and automation on products for the Biopharmaceutical, Biotechnology and other markets.

In this role you will:



•                  Be a resource as a member of a small, agile team for ongoing development projects:


-         Leverage bioprocess experience to identify development opportunities, optimize designs and troubleshoot potential pain points


-        Develop new methods, instruments and technologies in alignment with program strategy and industry standards


-        Provide expertise to ensure products are developed to meet current industry and customer requirements through voice of customer and customer visits.


-        Aid in the selection of strong vendors and partners. Build and maintain positive working relationships with external collaborators.


-        Participate in prototype design, build, and testing within laboratory environments


-        Author protocols and test documentation


-        Provide ongoing expertise for technical problem solving


•                   Interact with and support other departments and outsourced teams (such as supply chain, quality, logistics and product management) to facilitate handover and ensure all have required knowledge of products


•                   Experience some travel within the UK, as well as international travel which will be required as part of project responsibilities. 


Job Requirements



Qualifications


The successful applicant will have:



•                 Minimum degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering field (e.g. Biochemical or Bioprocess Engineering) or relevant Science degree with applicable industry experience. 


•                 2+ years experience in relevant industrial role, such as Process Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering or Cell Culture Science.


•                 Relevant experience developing, optimizing or running bioprocesses which required use of equipment such as bioreactors, direct and tangential flow filtration, chromatography, viral inactivation, and process analytical technologies.


•                 Team player with some experience in developing and executing project plans and reporting plans/results to management.


•                 Language: Technical English fluency required



Assets – desirable but not essential: 


-                 Experience of process related technology, for example biopharmaceutical manufacture, or biotech engineering highly desirable;


-                 Knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry and applicable security regulations for automated products such as 21 CFR part 11


-                 Experience with developing products for use in GMP/ GLP environments


-                 Familiarity with bioprocessing techniques, aseptic techniques, cell culture and a general understanding of laboratory or manufacturing safety practice.


-                 Some experience of automated or computer controlled systems would be an advantage
