Analyze the customer’s Automation requirements in their User Requirements Specifications for engineered process equipment (including different technologies such as direct flow filtration, tangential flow filtration, chromatography etc.) used in the Biopharmaceutical Industry.
As the automation lead of a project team discuss, propose, define the automation system solution with the customer including writing the automation part of quotation and associated costing. After Order placement execute the proposed automation system solution based on agreed and defined contractual specification together with a defined project team as project engineer. 
Assume responsibility for the generation and review of Software Design Documents according to GAMP 5 as well as for the execution of software testing.
Take ownership of tasks and actions related to the global governance of software, e.g. procedures and document templates for managing the software lifecycle.
Manage and coordinate small to medium size software upgrade and life cycle management projects.
Main Duties:

Pre order Activities (Time Spent 20 %)
Analyze Customer User Requirements specifications
Propose Automation solutions including required hard and software components
Write technical proposals including clarification and exclusion lists (automation- related part).
Create Project Costing sheets including material and manpower costs
Request and analyze quotations from automation sub suppliers and include in technical proposal
Take part in Project Risk assessments  

Project Execution (Time Spent 30 %)
Obtain final quotations for soft and hardware and initiate orders with procurement. 
Cross functional communication, progress monitoring, co-ordination of sub-supplier activities (electrical fabricators and software companies).
Progress monitoring, reporting and control 
Execution and coordination of Qualification/Verification activities at the various project stages (pre-FAT, FAT, SAT, IV/OV) 
Creation of technical documents and co-operate with Documentation team to assemble final technical documentation package. 
Drive and Participate in Continuous Improvement processes

General Administration (Time Spent 10 %)
General administrative tasks, travel organization, SAP time entry etc.

Specialized Activities (Time Spent 40 %)
Manage and coordinate small to medium size software upgrade and life cycle management projects.
Take ownership of tasks and actions related to the global governance of software, e.g. procedures and document templates for managing the software lifecycle.
Take part in global meetings and work with automation teams in other regions to support software harmonization
Take part in DBS events related to software design and problem solving, e.g. Software Bootcamp
Take part in internal and external trainings related to software generation and administration

Job Requirements


Education and Experience:

BSc/MSc or equivalent in Automation Engineering or Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent with additional qualifications in Automation. A certain amount of professional experience in an Automation environment would be an advantage 
Knowledge and understanding of typical requirements for Automation in the regulated food or drug industry such as GAMP, 21 CFR 11 or EU Annex 11.
Ability and willingness to work in a multinational and interdisciplinary team with a high degree of travelling.
Ability to communicate effectively on complex technical / engineering issues at the highest level. Pall internal as well as with the customer.
Fluency in German and English preferably, French as an addition.
