We are currently seeking a Assistant Cost Accountant to support our growing business.

Position Objective: 

This is a unique chance to work for a large and dynamic global organisation. An opportunity has now become available for a Assistant Cost Accountant to join the Finance SSC team in Portsmouth.  In this role, you will report into the business units Cost Accountant and you will be responsible for performing standardised SAP CO transactions as per work instructions. You need to use your costing experience to support EMEA and the US.

Role and Duties:

  • Perform standardised SAP CO transactions & CO reporting including:
    • Standard cost planning as part of the annual AOP and new part number creation. Interaction with plant representatives in understanding BOM and routing changes.
    • Production order (PDO) process including the review of WIP and settlement of completed production orders. Review of audit logs and financial output to ensure completeness and accuracy.
    • Sales order (SDI) process including settlement of completed sales orders and review of audit logs and financial output.
    • Project systems (PS) for PASS systems, including initial POC calculations and project reporting.
  • Completion of standard HFM forms including:
    • Unwound Inventory.
    • Fixed Asset/Depreciation/Gain on sale or loss.
    • Headcount.
    • Balance sheet.
  • Capital expenditure process including:
    • Creation of asset masters and internal orders.
    • Tracking of capex spend vs AOP and all related corporate schedules.
  • Work closely with plant based associates to ensure the business receives relevant information in a suitable format.
  • Cost centre spend review vs AOP and reporting key variances to plant cost centre owners.
  • Completion and initial review of weekly plant ‘flash reports’ to show actual vs forecast performance vs key KPI’s and financial performance.
  • Create monthly spread templates and send to plant partners for forecast data.
  • Completion of SOX controls as per work instructions.
  • Prepare good quality balance sheet reconciliations and identify actions to ensure the balance sheet remains current and clean.
  • Perform adhoc analytics as requested by CO COE Finance Officer in support of the plant partners.
  • Build a good working relationship with plant based associates to facilitate a 2 day month end close.
  • Drive standardisation across the BUs.

Job Requirements


Basic Qualifications/ Experience: 

  • Currently studying or qualified in CIMA or ACCA

  • Experience in a similar Accounting/Costing role

  • Use of an ERP system

  • Experience of management accounting within a manufacturing environment, and familiarity with controlling and costing concepts

  • Intermediate use of Excel

  • Intermediate experience in Word, Powerpoint.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Able to create standardised instructions.

  • Able to get to root cause and participate in applying corrective action.

  • Good communication skills applicable across cultural and regional boundaries
