X-Rite, known as one of “West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” is seeking an Applied Metrology Engineer to join our Standards Lab department in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position is responsible for developing company-wide measurement standards with the best possible accuracy; for building and maintaining and improving calibration infrastructure; technical support to establish traceability of the measurement, insure harmonization and compatibility with international standards; achieve operational excellence and influence the development of new products.

Essential Job Functions:
• Analyze and solve calibration problems using advanced mathematical and engineering knowledge
• Maintain calibration systems and their procedure for optical systems and for color measurement
• Use statistics to analyze measurement standards and processes
• Recommend calibration standards
• Make uncertainty, accuracy evaluations for calibration processes and color measurement 
• Develop software to assist in development/analysis calibration/measurement processes
• Maintain ISO 17025
• Introduction of calibration processes for new products to production
• Job functions include but are not limited to those listed

Job Requirements



Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a comparable position. 
• Knowledge and understanding of measurement science
• Understanding of color measurement
• Problem solving skill set
• Programming knowledge and SQL database skill set
• Passion for accuracy and attention to detail when testing
• Basic knowledge of ISO 17025 accreditation
• Aptitude to work Independently and effectively manage ambiguity in an unstructured environment 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously 
• Ability to work effectively in high-intensity/high-performance environment
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Ability to perform all essential job functions
