Job Description Summary

Analytical Chemist will be responsible for performing testing of compounds from small molecules, such as Cepheid proprietary chemical reagents, to synthetic oligonucleotides for use in Cepheid in-vitro diagnostic products. The test methods involve the operation of a variety of analytical equipment, including but not limited to HPLC, LCMS, and UV-Vis Spectrophotometers.

• Molecular characterization of small molecules and oligonucleotides
• Perform experiments defined by standard operating procedures
• Prepare QC-related documentation for GMP manufacturing
• Communicate results to different functions of the company including Quality, Research, Development, and Manufacturing
• Prepare buffers and analytical samples
• Perform data analysis and peer review of data for completeness and accuracy

Job Requirements


Education or Experience (in years):
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in analytical chemistry
• QC, GLP and/or GMP experience

Knowledge and skills:
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint software

Physical requirements/abilities:
• Ability to lift 25 lbs

• Highly proficient with Agilent Chemstation software
