The  Accounts Payable Lead's primary duties include processing vendor invoices and corresponding receiving reports to ensure timely payments of the company's expenses, maintain supplier master information, resolve problem invoices and assure AP SOX control.  In addition, the lead will drive productivity and quality within the department through consistent focus on department metrics, continuous improvement of processes, team development, and customer focus.  

Essential Functions

  • Process vendor invoices for payment.

  • Process expense reports for payment.

  • Process invoices to purchase orders for payment.

  • Resolve invoice discrepancies by contacting internal purchasing or receiving, supplier or internal customers.

  • Research receiving reports to ensure receipts not over 120 days and contact suppliers or purchasing as required. 

  • Submit and balance weekly payment runs.

  • Update and maintain supplier contacts, terms and banking information.

  • Scan incoming mail to paperless AP system.

  • Lead day to day activities of the AP team through effective knowledge based guidance.

  • Drive productivity and quality within AP team through focus on quality, delivery, inventory and productivity metrics.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in DBS metrics by practicing basics of DBS tools, processes and values.

  • Contribute to overall effectiveness in meeting internal customer and vendor needs through knowledge based communication skills across multiple types of media.

  • Coach team members on daily tasks, problem resolution, efficient processes, etc.

  • Contribute to DPO efforts through consistent focus on the financial best interests of the company.

Other Non-Essential Functions

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5 years experience in accounts payable
  • 3 years experience in a senior accounts payable function preferred

  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts required

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Concur, Oracle preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
