Description

Function title:      Accounting Specialist
Reports to:          Controller
Department:        Accounting
Location:             Dayton, OH


Main role / Job Objective:  Responsible for reviewing expense reports, reconciling credit card invoices, training and assisting associates with the online expense reporting system (MobileXpense), generating reports, and providing other accounting support as needed. Actively participates in the monthly Close process.


Main responsibilities and key activities: 

  • Processes associate expense reports on a daily basis in MobileXpense.
  • Ensures expense reports are coded accurately and are in compliance with the Travel Policy.
  • Resolves expense report discrepancies or issues; researches and explores answers and alternative solutions; implements solutions; identifies delinquent expenses and escalates unresolved problems.
  • Assists and trains new associates on how to prepare expense reports in MobileXpense.
  • Completes monthly audits on expense reports.
  • Assists in other Accounts Payable duties such as matching invoices to purchase orders, reviewing invoices for discrepancies and other duties as needed.
  • Assists with month-end closing.
  • Provides support to the Accounting team by preforming duties such as preparing and completing monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Other Financial Analysis
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications and professional knowledge:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or Finance
  • Solid understanding and ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Excel (Intermediate skill level)
  • 1-2 years accounting relevant progressive experience and/or training preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Familiar with  Microsoft Office Suite applications (i.e. Excel, Word)
