The Accounting Manager is responsible for oversight and execution of general accounting and reporting for multiple legal entities within the shared service center of Leica Biosystems, North America.

  • Manage LBS Shared Services GL accounting team to meet obligations, including completion of month end close, sales tax filings, SOX controls testing, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting matters 
  • Support business stakeholders through analysis of balance sheet accounts, profit and loss statements, and balance fluctuations from period to period
  • Collaborate in a highly matrixed global environment with the Director, Accounting Shared Services and other members of the Finance Leadership Team to ensure the accuracy and completion of month end close processes for US and Canada operating units
  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations and associated journal entries for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Prepare responses for audits and provide support, as needed, for Danaher Corporate US and Canada tax compliance
  • Drive alignment of key month end processes & internal controls across North America accounting in line with Danaher standards
  • Demonstrate Danaher Leadership Anchor values & behaviors
  • Measure performance and develop GL accounting team
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • BA/BA in Finance, Accounting or a related field required.
  • 6+ years of relevant accounting experience in a public company required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of year-end testing, GAAP and internal controls required
  • Extensive knowledge in accounting, payroll, receivable and payable procedures required.
  • 3 years supervisory leadership experience in a global, matrixed environment preferred
  • Certifications: CPA preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year of “Big firm” public accounting experience preferred
  • Strong experience supporting both internal and external audits, preferred.
  • Experience with process simplification to establish best practices.
  • Experience excelling in a robust, shared services environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to supervise and develop accounting staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and integrated ERP systems, preferably SAP  
  • Superior analytical, communication, and quantitative skills; ability to analyze complex processes/issues and drive simple outcomes
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and agility in dealing with multiple business models.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Typical work-related travel assignments range 1-5 days, and as such may require overnight, out-of-town stays.
