Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for accounting processing, reconciliations and implementation of internal controls for the Dental Opco’s within South Africa. This role works independently, drives positive change including, evaluating and streamlining of existing processes and controls to deliver accurate and timely results ensuring proper use of company resources and assets.
Maintains the integrity of the accounting systems in compliance with US GAAP, DHR/Dental Consumables and statutory accounting principles and policies. Provides financial statements within required DC and DHR schedules. Partners with local management and provides support and leadership in all financial belongings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
ACCOUNTING
  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual reporting package to headquarters (HFM)
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP, Statutory and company policies (Local ERP)
  • Prepare local statutory financial reports and comply with local tax regulations within the required time frames set by government
  • Assist with various audits (internal, external, ACP)
  • Coordinate and drive month-end process and ensure clear and crisp trial balance and variance analysis
  • Transact JE’s to ensure proper reflection of income statement and balance sheet (Oracle)
  • Prepare/review all account reconciliations and prepare/conduct timely balance sheet reviews
  • Manage/reconcile inter-company transactions and accounts
  • Prepare tax declarations and local tax filing requirements (VAT, Corporate Tax)
  • Manage and improve information flow with European Shared Services
  • COMPLIANCE
  • Ensure adequate internal controls are implemented and monitored, including SOX compliance
  • Ensure that all internal policies and procedures are consistently followed.
    FINANCE
  • Authorize and approve expenses, and bank transactions
  • Proactively research and document conclusions on accounting and compliance  issues with appropriate references to relevant GAAP, internal and external policies
  • Interface with auditors for audit requirements
  • Create Ad-hoc reports and analysis as required

QUALITY

  • Report and track any significant deviations from quality standards. Recommend corrective action as necessary to Management
  • Conduct periodic scheduled ISO 13485 internal audits-with necessary follow-up on corrective actions.

Qualifications

Most Important Qualifications and Competencies:

  • University degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related disciplines
  • 3-5 years’ experience as financial controller in a multi-site, industrial environment
  • Fluent in English and local language
  • Local statutory accounting principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (especially Excel) required.
  • Previous experience with large automated accounting and reporting systems (preferable Oracle, HFM and SAP), including data extract and report compilation.
  • Working knowledge of internal controls and procedures.
  • Some international accounting experience would be a plus
