POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an accounting professional with demonstrated problem solving and process improvement abilities.  The right candidate will have passion for details, be able to assess information from various sources, and has the skills and experience to be able to combine and analyze data and develop relevant conclusions.  The dynamics of the team offers this rare, multifaceted role, which includes components of transactional accounting, financial accounting, cost accounting, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.  The candidate will have the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of how our business operates and aid others in strategic decision making.  This role will lead the candidate into a position where they will assist business leaders in making decisions by providing accurate and timely financial information, assist in developing process changes, and ensure policy compliance.  In addition, the team member will be passionate about developing their knowledge and would be asked to identify and recommend improvements for areas such as: working capital, profit management, expense management, and policy implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the monthly close process: prepare journal entries including judgmental reserves.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Facilitate the commission process including monthly calculation and annual plan development.
  • Review and submit invoices for payment.  Track related accruals.
  • Prepare Canadian transactional tax reports and remittances along with annual tax filings.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, perform variance analysis, and prepare other ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Analyze aspects of working capital and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Manage intercompany activities and billings.
  • Articulate and assist associates in understanding Danaher and Hach policies. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert for your areas of responsibility; including month end responsibilities, Canadian commissions, and transactional accounting.
  • Identify, develop, and implement standard work and improvements to processes.
  • Actively participate in global team projects, including but not limited to SOX testing, internal and external audits, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act reviews.
  • Successfully manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment.  Professional presence must be demonstrated with the ability to be agile in a demanding environment.
  • Drive continuous process improvement using DBS (Danaher Business Systems) tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • U.S. or international equivalent of bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting required
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP 
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering results beyond expectations
  • Experience in a multi-national publicly traded company a plus
  • Experience with Canadian businesses a plus
  • Experience with a large ERP, Oracle preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate Excel skills
  • Excellent communication, both written, and verbal
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization
  • Team player with a positive can-do attitude
  • Motivated, results oriented self-starter who will actively work to expand existing skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to think out of the box
