Description

The Vice President of Global Engineering is responsible for planning and directing the Engineering activities of the company (i.e., product development, advanced engineering, engineering design, engineering support for other departments, quality assurance, documentation of the complete product line manufactured at X-Rite).  Develop, recommend and implement approved policies, procedures and programs 

Essential Job Functions:
• Function as a key strategic partner as a member of and partner to the rest of the X-Rite Leadership Team, ensuring that R&D is an active link in business planning, corporate strategy design, and building R&D credibility by making change happen.
• Strengthen the presence and capability of R&D and lead the function as a business partner providing technical and strategic expertise.
• Ensures that R&D processes and programs contribute to the accomplishment of X-Rite’s business strategy, and as a manager will focus employee attention on supporting the execution of strategy.
• Develop and direct the development and implementation of Engineering goals, policies and procedures which support corporate objectives.  Participate in the formulation of corporate business objectives, plans and policies.
• Develop operating systems and controls within Engineering and monitor their effectiveness to meet stated business goals, and adherence to established policies, procedures and practices.
• Through subordinate team leaders, direct continuing Engineering product design, development and documentation activities in all product lines.
• Develop and administer a project control system for all proposed, active and approved Engineering projects, ensuring that Engineering resources are efficiently utilized and focused and that schedule commitments are met.
• Develop and maintain a competitor monitoring and evaluation system to ensure detailed knowledge of their strategic direction and innovation.
• Maintain legal safeguards for the security of intellectual properties and the avoidance of patent infringement.
• Review budgetary requests from team members' areas of responsibility for manpower and capital assets to consolidate them into an overall Engineering budget.
• Direct the provision of Engineering support to other operating areas (e.g., Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Facilities, Marketing) as necessary to resolve Engineering related problems.
• Maintain frequent contact with marketing, operations, and customers to review Engineering and business-related matters (e.g., design questions, performance problems, commitments) and to participate in product presentations and contract negotiations.
• Participate in Engineering projects as necessary and ensure open communications between various functions (Marketing, QA, Operations, Finance, etc.).

Job Requirements



Qualifications

• B.S.M.E. or B.S.E.E.
• Ten+ of progressively more responsible technical and managerial experience to have acquired the necessary base of knowledge to perform the job (e.g., Engineering design and research activities, schedule / time management, establishing project control systems).
