The Vice President, Global Manufacturing is a member of the Videojet Global Sr. Leadership (L1) team which develops the Videojet multi-year Strategic plan and the annual Policy Deployment and Operating Plans.  The VP Manufacturing will oversee all operations and functions of manufacturing and materials management for all Videojet global manufacturing location including Wood Dale, Elk Grove and Belleville, Illinois; DeMeern, Netherlands; Sao Paolo, Brazil; India; and Zhuhai, China.  In addition, the Vice President, Global Manufacturing will provide functional Operational leadership for three additional Danaher Product Identification Platform Coding & Marking businesses; Linx (UK), Alltec FOBA (Germany) and Laetus (Germany); in total, the role covers  11 Manufacturing facilities.

This role will provide strategic leadership and tactical direction to the operations and Global Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), with the goal of creating sustainable competitive advantage through new product launch execution; achieving operational excellence in quality, delivery, cost; and working capital leverage and potential acquisition integration.  Accomplishing these objectives will require the implementation and continuous improvement of Lean manufacturing processes as well as the development a highly efficient and effective organization, culture and talent base.  

This is a highly visible role in a market-leading, core growth business of Videojet and the Danaher Product Identification Planform.  It represents an opportunity to lead the world-class Danaher Business System and to work within an internally recognized “best-in-class” team. 
As a key operating member of Videojet’s global Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the VP Manufacturing will participate in L1 management meetings, including monthly staff meetings, policy deployment meetings and new product development meetings.  


The Vice President, Global Manufacturing will manage a budget of approximately $60 million and a team of around 800 people, including several direct reports which includes Multiple Site Leaders, Manufacturing & Quality Engineering Leader, and the Global EHS Leader.  

Key responsibilities of the role include: 

  • EH&S – creating and effectively implementing sustainable business processes that result in decreased injuries and accidents. 
  • Quality – creating and effectively implementing sustainable processes and working closely with Procurement and Engineering to drive down EPPM on existing and new products. 
  • Delivery – creating and effectively implementing sustainable business processes that result in improved predictability and speed of product shipments. 
  • Working Capital – leading the operations team and working closely with the Videojet leadership team to improve working capital turns, one of Danaher’s eight core value drivers. 
  • Cost – creating and executing strategies to sustainably improve manufacturing cost and labor productivity. 
  • New Product Development – working closely with our research and development teams to launch new products with world-class levels of SQDC. 
  • Organizational Development – developing and retaining a highly productive and efficient operations team while driving succession planning for key roles including the VP Manufacturing and all direct reports.
  • Danaher Business System excellence -- creating an organizational culture where the use of daily management and continuous process improvement is fully embraced as the way to achieve sustainable competitive advantage thereby ensuring our SQDC continuously stays ahead.
  • Operational Excellence: Develop, implement and update monthly KPI’s both globally and for each manufacturing location.  Drive monthly L2 and L3 Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operating reviews including as needed complete PSP’s and action plans to ensure achievement of targeted objectives. 
  • Dotted-line responsibility in a matrix organization for Operations in all Product Identification Platform Coding & Marking businesses (Linx, Alltec FOBA, Laetus), distribution locations (e.g., Mexico and Argentina) and other Danaher operating companies that Videojet manufacturing supports (e.g., X-Rite products manufactured in the Videojet facility in Zhuhai, China).
  • Working collaboratively with the other members of the Videojet Leadership (L1) team to ensure Videojet suppliers deliver required quality and achieve expected on-time delivery performance.

Job Requirements


Key Selection Criteria

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in a global, networked, Lean manufacturing environment of a top company with world class manufacturing capabilities.  
  • Experience leading manufacturing, supply chain and supporting new product development of integrated technology products (e.g., mechanical, electrical, software-driven devices with imbedded fluidics).
  • A demonstrated track record of achieving stretch goals within a global manufacturing network for safety, quality, on-time delivery, inventory turns improvement and cost reduction, as well as leadership of a multi-site manufacturing operation.
  • Proven hands-on Lean conversion experience.  Acquisition integration experience will be a plus.
  • Strong track record of organization and team development including succession planning, developing future leaders and top-grading.  Positively drives team engagement, collaboration and teamwork.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including effective use of presentations and spreadsheet analysis. 
  • A bachelor’s degree in business management, operations management or engineering. An M.B.A. or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
