We are seeking an individual to join our team in the role of Trade Compliance Manager. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Trade Compliance, this Trade Compliance Manager will be our Subject Matter Expert for Export controls and strategies. He or she will lead our global Export Compliance program, develop and implement export procedures, including auditing, customer screening, license determinations and applications. This position will be located initially in Orange, CA but is expected to move to Brea, CA by 2020

The ideal candidate must have knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR) of the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Regulations and other applicable International Export rules and regulations. Must have knowledge of global import/export regulations and applications. The candidate should   have experience with SAP GTS and compliance process automation.

•Act as strategic business advisor on global export matters, including EAR and OFAC compliance;
•Monitor service providers’ performance against defined Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI’s)
•Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance in the following areas: Anti-boycott/Restrictive Trade Practices, export Control Classification, Export Licensing, Compliance training, Export Documentation, Tariff Classification, Customs Valuation, Reconciliation, Country of Origin Marking, Country of Origin Determination, Recordkeeping, Preference Programs/FTAs and Customs Clearance
•Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in strategic planning and implementation of all customs, export and trade initiatives globally.
•Monitor updates to export laws and regulations, assess the impact on company’s and its subsidiaries’ systems and processes, and modify export processes and procedures as necessary to ensure compliance
•Develop and maintain BIS, OFAC, ITAR and other export - related processes and procedures
•Develop and administer training (both online and in person) on export matters that reflect the latest developments in Trade Compliance regulations.
•Conduct and manage various compliance related audits and risk assessment
•Strong influencing and negotiating skills and ability to act as internal advisor are essential requirements for this position
•Subject Matter expert in BIS, EAR, ITAR, and OFAC regulations and Global Export Compliance

Job Requirements


  • BS or BA degree and a minimum of ten years of Trade Compliance experience
  • Experienced in SAP, GTS, ACE and SNAP-R
  • 3 years of project management experience, managing multiple projects with varying deadlines
  • 5 years of experience managing customs consultants/brokers to ensuring compliant, efficient, and cost-effective entry of goods
  • Export license determination and filing experience
  • Knowledge of Export Compliance screening software and classification applications
  • Be familiar with or capable of understanding manufacturing tools and processes
  • Familiarity and/or experience with LEAN and Six Sigma
  • Strong research, writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EEI filing requirements, HTS/ECCN classification and “sanctioned” party screening processes
  • Familiarity and/or experience with LEAN and Six Sigma
  • Comprehensive understanding of core customs compliance areas including country of origin, valuation, import and export classification and export licensing
