Description

This position will have a key role in the development of processes related to new dental materials and serve as a liaison between the R&D and manufacturing groups for the development and transfer of products to manufacturing. The individual will be responsible for implementing upcoming processes, ensuring that proper manufacturability is built into product development and process design.



Main Responsibilities



  • Ensure testing and processes are properly documented to meet regulatory needs.

  • Engage with key technology partners and suppliers to develop products and processes that best support the delivery of business objectives

  • Apply Engineering, Materials and Process knowledge to the design, development & validation of innovative materials and technologies that are scalable across the global manufacturing network

  • Foster collaborative relationships with Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Research & Development, supply chain and Operations to facilitate development and validation of new products and processes.

  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess new technologies or process improvements

  • Manage key project stakeholders through effective and timely communications of meaningful data

  • Participate in collaborations with R&D and academic institutions

  • Specialist must also stay up-to-date on industry standards, government regulations and new developments in the FDA regulated medical device field.

  • Provide material expertise in the design and development of products and new processes. This may include prototyping, pilot operations and process characterization to ensure the successful implementation of new product lines that meet all demands/requirements.

  • Identify latest technology to improve materials processing and throughput

  • Support R&D group in selecting right processes and identifying third party vendors



Job Requirements



Qualifications


  • M.Sc or PhD in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering

  • The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of technical solutions that can be applied in the medical device field.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to perform failure analysis and solve quality issues through an understanding of first principles, experimental design and the use of analytical equipment.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in new materials process engineering for pipeline projects as well as for surface treatment processes for on market products

  • Subject matter will be on surface technologies and biomaterials

  • Process development and/or product development experience

  • At least 5 years Medical Device industry (ideally dental) background; alternatively, in combination with a comparable regulated industry.

  • Proven track record of relevant Project Management experience
