Description

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our systems engineering team in Melbourne
Primary Purpose of this role is to perform systems engineering tasks, as necessary, with a specific focus on software systems and instrumentation:
  • Work with the engineering team to define, execute the engineering lifecycle to develop, test, and release improvements as well as new product iterations.
  • Interface with internal customers, including Engineers and Scientists, at all stages of the development lifecycle to, for example, develop requirements, design solutions, track engineering progress, and achieve successful integration and verification/validation.
  • Define systems and their interfaces and allocate responsibilities to systems.
  • Diagnose complex subsystem problems across algorithms, software, electronics, mechanics, and fluidics.
  • Working within the engineering team to support production and manufacturing as well as field service personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse set of peers, customers, and vendors.
As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for but are not limited to:
  • Develop and manage system and sub-system requirements, interfaces and system integration.
  • Lead the product safety risk management process for projects.
  • Delivery of systems engineering inputs to programme gates and milestones.
  • Review systems engineering artefacts.
  • Utilise LEAN methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Implement Leica Biosystems’ values and processes.
  • Drive cultural change

Job Requirements



Qualifications

A successful candidate will possess:

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ systems engineering experience throughout the systems engineering lifecycle with previous experience in a regulated development environment (e.g. medical devices, aerospace, defence).
  • Tertiary Qualifications
  • A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

Skills and Attributes:

Professional

  • Demonstrated professional integrity, good level of technical knowledge and experience, objectivity, acceptance of responsibility, maturity of judgment and common sense
  • Willing to provide input to a diverse range of activities, even those that may not directly relate to SE at time

Technical

  • Demonstrable experience throughout the full engineering lifecycle
  • Expertise in electronic and software systems development and interfacing
  • Expertise in systems and software integration (supporting test campaigns)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Interpersonal

  • Able to take the 'system view' of the programme and interact with subject 'experts'
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with a pragmatic approach

Highly Desirable:

Technical

  • Involvement in large scale system development as a systems engineer
  • Being part of a multidisciplinary team to complete a development task
  • Formal training in systems engineering
