Description

Summary:  Responsible for global supply and demand planning for existing and new products.  This position is also responsible for on time delivery to distribution customers, inventory optimization and management of the North America PSI (Production Sales and Inventory) process. Works with Senior Sales Leaders, Marketing and Product Management teams on customer facing integration projects as part of Customer SCM team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages and orders supply in accordance with MRP, Kanban, production plan goals and related planning data.
  • Works closely with manufacturing and suppliers to prioritize, expedite and de-expedite work orders and purchase orders based on material availability, department resources, changing requirements and customer service requirements.
  • Support the assigned value streams including inventory turns improvement, backorder reduction and coordinating activities with other buyer/planners and departments.
  • Participates in the new product development process and supports supply chain planning activities at the new product team level.
  • Reviews production plans and plant capacity, lead times, safety stocks and lot sizes to determine resource requirements and constraints.
  • Participates in cross-functional project teams related to planning and process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors and optimizes inventory levels to the company goals at the raw, sub-assembly, WIP and finished good levels.
  • Responsible for maintaining key planning parameters such as safety stocks, buffer stocks and lot sizes.
  • Support special projects related to material planning, purchasing, system changes and inventory management.
  • Collaborates and supports Master Scheduler with Forecast Load and setups in Oracle.
  • Works with Marketing and Sales to determine impact of promotions on demand.
  • Leads and identifies seasonal demand forecasts and anticipate customer reactions to the promotions and ‘Go-Get’ programs.
  • Maintains demand plan to ensure cost effectiveness and to meet inventory goals.
  • Leads PSI bi-monthly flow down to factory leads.
  • Schedules, leads, and executes Production, Sales, and Inventory (PSI) meetings with all customers as required. (Internal to Ormco/External as required).
  • Identifies opportunities to meet customer demands during constrained supply; mitigate risk appropriately.
  • Maintains demand planning processes and systems to improve forecasting accuracy; provides weekly forecast variance data to Master Scheduler and Materials Management teams.
  • Works with Marketing and Planning team on existing and new product portfolio rationalization projects.

Qualifications

Skills:
  • Understanding of demand planning process in regards to customer, market, sales and other influences.
  • Have basic working knowledge and apply the principles of planning/pull systems, MRP horizontal planning, demand consumption and projected balance calculations.
  • Have base understanding of lean manufacturing and JIT principles similar or including DBS (Danaher Business System) tools and how to apply them in the appropriate situation.
  • Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Basic understanding of MRP (Materials Requirements Planning).
  • Good interpersonal skills and Team Oriented with the ability to work with many levels and types of people.
  • Good written, oral and presentation skills (communication).
  • Problem solving and good business decision making skills.
  • Planning and organizational ability.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).

Education/Experience:
  • 2 or 4 year College Degree preferred
  • APICS Certification is a plus
  • 2-4 years experience in materials planning or production control in manufacturing or distribution facility.
  • Experience in medical devices or related field a plus.
