The Reagent Development department designs, characterizes, and verifies new technologies for the diagnostic market. Teams in this department work together to integrate customer needs into the development process. Scientists plan and perform experimental studies and evaluate the results toward this goal. In addition, associates support technologies post-launch to resolve performance issues and maintain the health of products in the field. 

The Supervisor, Development Science provides technical guidance and leadership to the team while also contributing to daily activities. Supervise staff responsible for the development and characterization of reagent chemistry processes (antibody development, cell culture, antibody purification, conjugation, solid phase chemistries). Supervise daily activities, set priorities for the team to ensure task completion, and coordinate work activities through collaboration with technical experts, management team and project leads. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all company policies and procedure, FDA, ISO, GLP and related requirements are consistently met. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, applicants should also have laboratory work experience to assist in the daily execution of project activities and support the sustainment related to laboratory management for the department. 

  • Provide staff supervision of daily activities
  • Sustain lab productivity and compliance to meet department and corporate objectives
  • Work will be reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules
  • Seek opportunities to improve efficiency and increase capacity for the business
  • Ensure alignment to established policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Communicate project status, escalates issues to high level management, users, and staff
  • Provide guidance on yearly objectives and support sustainment of these objectives
  • Provide staff development opportunities based on associate and business needs
  • Participate in hiring/disciplinary decisions affecting employees and/or contractors 
  • Support associate development plans to build and improve the capability of the team
  • Participate in department laboratory management
  • Assist in execution of project and/or laboratory activities

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience. 
  • Training in life sciences (e.g. chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, or medical related sciences), laboratory medicine, or other related clinical chemistry experience.
  • Previous leadership experience (laboratory, people or project management).
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices and scientific methods.
  • Experience with IVD reagent development and characterization of immunoassay components preferred.
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams preferred
