Description

Focus on End of Life sustainment activities for current Instrument Manufacturing/Production.

End of Life/New Product Launch/Product Transitions (65%)
  • Project Management-
  • Responsibilities include the coordination and completion of end of life and obsolescence projects on time to ever-changing priorities. Oversee other contract engineers both while managing project priorities and to support production. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize progress of project. 
  • Prepare reports for upper management regarding status of project work directly with clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. Coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible.
  • Manage a large amount of open projects with minimal support by utilizing engineering and supply chain strategies to support production sustainment.
  • Working with outside vendors and brokers to support EOL parts mitigation and resolutions
  • Life cycle management - Understanding of the current market issues on obsolescence and providing guideless and support to the business unit on obsolescence impact  on current product lines
  • Technical
  • Responsible for completing all like-for-like replacement components or designing out all end of life components related to the electronic/electromechanical commodity prior to impacting the production lines.
  • Provide disposition of non-conforming material thru the MRB processes and provide support in the resolution of supplier issues including interfacing with PCB and other electronic assembly suppliers as needed.
  • Support and lead more complex design change activities to resolve part obsolescence issues
  • Update and maintain product documentation BOM’s, drawings, and specifications as needed using the Indy documentation control process.

PPV (Cost Savings) Engineering Project Activities (35%)
  • Develop and define scope of design changes needed to drive conceptual supplier transitions into captured cost savings projects.
  • Modify or re-create design documentation to ensure future transitions can launch with little impact around processes/procedures and all other applicable prints that would inhibit a new supplier to not quote a project or delay the timeline for savings.
  • Utilize knowledge of electronic and electromechanical systems, PCB layout, and component and assembly designs to drive cost savings projects.
  • Review plans with internal/external subject matter expertise to validate strategic plans as needed.
  • Manage and coordinate implementation of new supplier First Article units thru closure and delivery of approved design change documentation (Design change plans, design inputs/outputs, verification strategies and protocols, Design Reviews, Engineering Drawings and specifications, and Change Orders.)
  • Manage overall project planning and schedules tied to technical deliverables, provide technical coordination and communication with suppliers, quality, procurement, and materials to insure transfer of design into manufacturing and supply chain.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • BSEE/EET degree with a minimum 10 years’ experience.
  • Experience in End of Life Management- Technical and Project Management
  • Experience with complex electro/mechanical instruments, circuit board or sub-systems preferred.
  • Experience with Embedded computers (win CE, XP and etc.) and computer obsolescence.
  • Medical Device background preferred
  • Visual management background
  • Experience with project leadership in managing design change activity, developing and executing supporting test verification protocols, leading technical reviews activity, and coordination with procurement and suppliers
  • Experience in dealing with design changes in a structured design control/change environment for medical devices preferred
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and MS Office skills required (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) with attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to focus efforts, overcome obstacles, and complete key objectives.
  • Ability to work in an engineering team environment and clearly communicate technical status of assigned projects. Team-minded with ability to build excellent working relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
