This position’s expectation is to Initiate, direct and execute scientific research focusing on clinical diagnostic & mass spectrometry area. The ideal candidate will Investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems. Capable of planning, executing and resourcing laboratory research. Candidate shall maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories in clinical diagnostic and mass spectrometry area. Shall create and protect intellectual properties generated from the research conducted at Sciex in the form of patents and trade-secrets. Shall have good analytical skill for problem solving and be able to work with a team of people with multidisciplinary expertise. Shall be independent thinker and decision maker based on risk assessment. 

Work closely within the R&D team at Sciex during the product development lifecycle to develop and evaluate specifications for assay related product which has overlap with software and hardware (LC-MS). Develop and optimize sample preparation, LC-MS method development for clinical Dx assays involving single or multiple analytes. Optimization of LC method in various platforms for assays and kits. 
Participate in execution of verification and validation (V&V) of diagnostic assays. Draft requirement, protocol and create record for V&V. Ensure proper record keeping and maintain traceability during the V&V activities. Create and drive project plans for V&V, exploratory research and report regularly to supervisor.  
Compliant with the applicable quality and regulatory requirements. Occasionally support product quality issues as subject matter expert (SME) following CAPA process. 
Provide input on manufacturability and cost analysis during new product development. Build and test initial prototype kit components. 
Maintain 5S in lab, preventative maintenance (PM) plan for key instruments and owner of V&V material inventory. 
Participate, present and lead in group meetings, KAIZENS, Danaher (DBS) trainings and programs, visual management dashboards and project updates. Expected to be a core team member in projects.
Collaborate with SW/HW teams at Sciex to better understand and support the HW/SW product lines. Evaluation of new Sciex or Sciex-partners platforms for Clinical Dx assays 


Job Requirements


A minimum of 8-10 years in a role supporting LC-MS based Clinical Dx R&D and assay development. Experience with of Clinical Dx Assay verification and validation is necessary. Knowledge and experience with 510K clearance process is a plus but not essential.

Proficient in liquid chromatography HW, SW and method development. Must have adequate background in chemistry to understand the surface chemistry, binding and separation properties of different chromatography media and hardware. Up-to-date knowledge on technology landscape on this field is critical. 

Expertise in analytical chemistry including extensive experience with MS/MS method development, optimization, and troubleshooting; preferably using SCIEX equipment.

Familiarly and understanding of CLSI guidelines is critical. Knowledge of ISO and CLEA/CAP guidelines is a plus. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of scientific project management is necessary.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio and project and visual management software.

Education Required

Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (Chemistry, Molecular biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Clinical Chemistry) with 8+ years of industry experience. Knowledge or certificates in Clinical Chemistry is a plus.
