The Sr. Procurement Manager provides leadership and management of Procurement with responsibilities of supporting Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory, and Innovation with the main emphasis on Cost Savings through Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE) from a Global Best Cost Region analysis by evaluating and driving to Low Cost Regions. The direct reports include one Team Leader supported by a European procurement team with responsibilities for PPV savings, VAVE & New Product Development (NPD) support.  Site indirect spend initiatives are also supported by Procurement.  This is a player/coach position providing leadership to a Finnish based procurement team while performing the lead purchasing activities for the U.S. based products. 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned, in addition to those identified below.

  • Responsible for multiple procurement activities while balancing both site and corporate objectives:
  • Responsible to lead and work with cross-functional groups to generate PPV cost savings through negotiation and resourcing activities globally. 
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function 
  • A Working Manager responsible for the generation and sustainment of PPV and VAVE either through individual or cross-functional involvement.
  • Utilizes Envista Business System (EBS) reporting tools to extrapolate analyze and interpret data to help assess and deliver results primarily for PPV and VAVE activities.
  • Develops and utilizes Visual Management of key data for cost savings, supplier spend, and other metrics for the PPV status, awareness, key projects and priorities.
  • Leads and participates in workshops for PPV and VAVE that reviews spending and manufacturing activities to identify ways to reduce costs while maintaining or improving Quality, Delivery, and Inventory.
  • Utilizes Funnel Management processes and techniques to prioritize and drive PPV & VAVE savings projects.
  • Responsible for driving compliance to corporate Conflict Mineral initiatives for full Imaging Business unit.
  • Responsible for implementing and driving Risk mitigation activities across full Imaging Business Unit.
  • Responsible for reporting and driving LCR activities across full Imaging Business unit. 
  • Supplier management through a supplier qualification process, which may include site visits and audits, that incorporates accepted standards of practice, based on QDCI, to help consider, evaluate and qualify potential supplier candidates.  Follow MP and assure data accuracy and use of supplier performance scorecards for quality, delivery, and cost to facilitate the alignment of capabilities to our business requirements.  
  • Visits major vendors to discuss issues/concerns and to maintain good relationships as required.  Responsible for following procedures for Approval of new vendors and manage the approved vendor list, including documents for the auditing support.
  • Manages and supports buying best by assuring best price and quality for all direct material items/commodities (Chemicals; Packaging; Metals & Plastics; others) as assigned.
  • Keeps an awareness of and stays current on commodity trends in the marketplace.
  • Ensures that suppliers are adhering to developed routing guides and established corporate guidance.
  • Project Management leader for the department and their individual projects.  Regular support for Procurement’s role with NPD New Product Development and teams to launch new products and participate in Ops PD meetings, Procurement PD’s, and other meetings as needed like the CCB, gross margin and other cross functional meetings related to project prioritization for cost savings initiatives. 
  • Responsible for working with Cross-Functional teams to help drive and deliver innovation and new products by assisting in implementing strategic cost techniques to minimize upstream exploratory costs and the subsequent costs that will be associated with product sustainment post launch.
  • Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Develop and maintains an effective organization through the selection, training, compensation and motivation of department personnel.  Ensure the smooth functioning of the strategic purchasing and commodity buying function through training, developing, and tracking as appropriate.
  • Follows GMP, ISO, FDA and all regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
  • Some travel up to 50%, both domestically and internationally.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance or other related fields of study.
  • 10 years of Global Procurement or Supply Chain Experience:
  • 7 Years of Project Management of cross functional resources.
  • 7 Years of experience managing people with remote direct reports in Procurement or Supply Chain.
  • 5 years Strategic Procurement experience in FDA regulated business environment
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products – including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • 7+ Years’ experience in PPV or VAVE savings.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen concepts.
  • Experience in Dental Manufacturing industry.
