The Sr. Manager Mechanical Engineering, Report to R&D Director in Su Zhou China, Responsibilities and Authorities include:

  • λ The Sr. Manager Mechanical Engineering provides technical engineering leadership of Chemistry/Immunoassay systems during the investigation, definition, design, development and qualification phases of multi-mechanical engineering systems. Using CAD/CAE tools as appropriate, the incumbent establishes engineering specifications, identifying critical design factors and risks that meet customer needs and regulatory requirements; designs systems and sub-systems; conducts theoretical and empirical analyses of complex core technology or mechanical systems; reviews overall design, specifications and experimental designs to ensure efficacy, feasibility and compliance; participates on multi-mechanical engineering development teams; and leads teams to improve product development process and/or resolve issues.

  • • May serve as the Engineering project lead with knowledge of the development process, design control and basic Regulatory issues
  • • May be the key contact for outside application/technology providers
  • • Adheres to technical standards
  • • Recommends and leads process improvements
  • • Provides guidance to junior scientists; reviews and approve junior scientist’s work
  • • Adheres to policies and procedures
  • • Exercises independent judgment
  • • Develops advanced concepts and designs for complex issues
  • • May serve as a hiring manager
  • • Resolves (with limited direction) complex manufacturing discrepancies
  • • Apply knowledge and experience in instrument theory of operation to achieve work objectives

  • • May provide direction and guidance in design, development and application of new technologies. Job Requirements


  • • Bachelor’s degree in field 14 plus years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • • Related experience includes 4+ years managing people
  • • Provide guidance to lower-level employees and managers
  • • Integrate research, information and trends into solutions to identify and solve complex problems that require evaluation of variables and the regular use of ingenuity and innovation
  • • Applies broad knowledge of technical principles, theories, and concepts in chosen field and employs sound project management
  • • Exerts influence in the development of overall objectives, assignments, and long range goals of the organization
  • • Applies business understanding and technical expertise to assist in solving complex technical and business issues
  • • Use knowledge to expand on standard techniques and processes in creative and effective ways
