Description

The Leica Biosystems Imaging business is excited to be growing our R&D capability in our Vista, CA office, just outside of San Diego! On our journey to Vision 24, enabling clinicians to efficiently provide patients a highly confident diagnosis within 24-hours from biopsy, the LBS Imaging business plays a critical part in the scanning, image management and image analysis parts of the overall integrated solutions we offer.

As a Software Engineer, Imaging Solutions, you will be responsible for design, develop, and unit test image viewing, data workflow in support of the image analysis application. Components could be web, thick-client applications or micro-services. Collaborates with product managers and other developers to design and deliver needed functionality.
 
Major Responsibilities
 
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and other Software engineers developing image viewing and analysis applications.
  • Collaborate, present and defend design with broader development team.
  • Develop software under Leica Biosystems development procedures.
  • Document software specifications based on marketing requirements in accordance with Leica Biosystems quality process. These would include but not limited to SRS, SDS, SDD, FMEA.
  • Unit test software prior to turnover to QA engineers.
  • Member of team of engineers developing devices and platform.
  • Provide third-level support for customer installations. This would include participation in CDT&R activities
  • Learn and apply DBS (Danaher Business Systems) tools and processes for problem solving, lean product development, inspection of code & design review and ultimately for driving customer happiness.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years C++ or C# Windows development
  • 2+ years’ experience with scripting language, preferably with JavaScript/PHP and related Web 2.0 technologies (CSS, AJAX, etc.)
  • Experience developing multi-threaded applications.
  • Experience developing Database applications including queries, views triggers using SQL
  • Experience in estimating requirements and writing design documents
  • Experience with client/server application architecture.
  • Experience deploying and supporting software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with SCRUM in an Agile team environment.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and other Microsoft development tools.
  • Familiarity with GUI design for non-technical users, especially for image viewing applications.
  • Familiarity with image file formats (JPEG, TIFF, GIF) and with compression techniques (JPEG, LZW).
  • Familiarity with COM.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging applications, such as in Pathology or Radiology.
  • Experience with TCP/IP socket programming.
