Key Responsibilities

•         The incumbent will be involved in interviewing new hires, guide and manage the daily activities of assigned reportees. Assign resources, monitor workloads, conduct performance assessments, coordinate discipline and oversee employee development.

•         Set clear objectives, evaluate progress against objectives, and instil performance-oriented culture with a focus on accountability.

•         Coordinate and oversee development projects performed by team members including conducting and/or attending project status meetings; reviewing project dashboards and ensuring progress per project plan; facilitating communication and fostering relationships with the project team members;

•         Ensuring development standards are followed; identifying and mitigating risks; reviewing and approving project deliverables for accuracy, completeness, quality, and achievability; monitoring the status of project schedules and resolving conflict.

•         Mentor direct reports with attention to individual professional and leadership competencies in order to help them achieve short-and long-term career development goals.

•         Strong management skills including experience in managing projects including resource estimation, prioritization, scheduling, and assignment, identifying risks and mitigations, and resolving conflict, as well as, coordinating and managing tasks of development team members.

•         Communicate progress and issues to senior management both locally and remotely

•         Leader and champion of scrum agile development methodology

•         Supervise and direct the SDLC activities for software team members.

•         Works collaboratively with project manager and partners to create resourcing and execution plans, regularly tracks team progress against objectives, identify and manage organizational risks to ensure successful accomplishment of objectives.

•         Develops solid understanding of Danaher Business System (DBS) tools and applies to day-to-day work. Advocate the use of DBS tools such as Daily Management, Problem Solving, Standard Work and others as appropriate to the needs of the business.

•         Works collaboratively with project manager and partners to create resourcing and execution plans including any hand-offs, regularly tracks team progress against objectives, identify and manage organizational risks to ensure successful accomplishment of objectives.

•         Ensure projects are executed in compliance with the applicable Quality Management System (QMS), applicable standards. Participate in internal and external audits where required to demonstrate compliance.

•         Communicate progress and issues to senior management both locally and remotely

•         Research and keep abreast of industry trends and approaches relevant to LBS products and solutions.

Job Requirements


Required Skills / Experience / Education

•         4 year degree (Computer Science, Math, or Engineering) or equivalent industry experience.

•         Deep understanding of agile development methodologies

•         A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Software Development or Software Testing, with proven prior experience in a software R&D team leadership/management role.

•         Work related experience of 5+ years in the management of staff numbering in excess of 10 persons - hiring, objective setting, performance evaluation, compensation, coaching and mentoring is desirable

•         If coming from a Software Engineering background, solid experience architecting, designing and developing solutions and experience with WPF, Visual C++, Visual C# and OOA/OOD development methodologies

•         If coming from a Software Verification background, then ISTQB foundation certification or equivalent, and experience in the use of test automation tools e.g. Postman, Telerik, WCF (Windows Communication Foundation), WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation), API, Rest, etc.

•         Excellent oral and written communicator skilled at creating alignment.

•         Able to lead in a cross functional team setting working with team members from multiple functions and disciplines.

•         A solid understanding of the software development life cycle or product development lifecycle.   

•         Highly developed documentation, communication and presentation skills.

•         Experience in managing/supervising people including hiring, performance evaluation,  coaching and mentoring.


Desired Skills / Experience

•         History of teamwork and willingness to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.

•         Understanding of software development processes for a regulated environment (ISO9000/FDA).

•         Experience in Agile development processes and philosophies.

•         Proven results oriented person with a timely delivery and quality focus.

•         Experience in medical device design & development a plus
