Description

You will join an outstanding bioinformatics team and be responsible for the development and maintenance of algorithms and features for industry-leading software applications from SCIEX. Your contributions will include early phase prototyping, integration of concepts into production code for commercial products that can be deployed either on-prem or in the cloud and post-launch support. You will be highly motivated to understand and satisfy challenging requirements for algorithm performance.

  • Deliver prototype implementations of novel algorithms given high-level descriptions
  • Assist and automate algorithm evaluations
  • Integrate new features and mature algorithm concepts into existing and new C#/C++ applications in an efficient manner with sound design and quality code
  • Support delivery of algorithms for cloud applications
  • Quickly prepare brief, accurate and relevant documentation of designs, and present to technical lead for feedback as needed to align on design before development
  • Follow established practices of agile methodologies to ensure high quality software
  • Work as a team member to maximize the success of the development team, including not just fellow developers, but the full cross-functional team including testers, scientists and project manager

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a strong background in mathematics, statistics and algorithms, or a graduate degree in Science or Math with strong programming experience
  • 3+ years' experience in algorithm development, ideally with a focus on life sciences and signal processing
  • 2+ years' design/programming experience with C# and C++
  • Passion for sound design, coding and documentation practices to ensure long-term viability of code including test-driven development
  • Multi-threaded development
  • Experience with performance troubleshooting and optimization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specific training in bioinformatics including proteomics and other ‘omics’ applications as well as data searching, mining and visualization capabilities
  • Experience with various parallel processing techniques including SIMD
  • Experience with distributed processing and storage
  • Experience with containerization and Docker
  • Experience working autonomously on diverse parts of applications (UI, data model, etc.)
  • General familiarity with Linux or Unix
  • Experience with .NET Core
  • Experience as an effective collaborator with team members in a geographically distributed team highly desired
  • Experience with any of MATLAB, R, KNIME, Python
