Description

The incumbent will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of Centrifugation Manufacturing value stream.  The Centrifugation Manufacturing value stream includes Instruments, Rotor Machining, Rotor Assembly, Service/Spare Parts and dotted line to Centrifuge Consumables. The scope will include Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity with the objective of continuous improvement for driving results, under the oversight and guidance of the Operations Director, to achieve sustainable plant goals.

Responsibilities include:

Business Planning
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of P&L with understanding of how decisions impact overall business and results for the value stream.
  • Partner with Business Unit Leaders to develop budgets for fiscal year
  • Manage assets and make capital investment recommendations based on development of business cases
  • Support new product development, obsolesce and insourcing projects
  • Reduce standard costs
  • Establish team goals and objectives base on operating company KPIs and Policy Deployment
  • Establish a multi-year strategic vision with an action plan to track progress
Building Teams
  • Recruit and retain top talent
  • Set clear goals and lead by example across all levels of organization
  • Maintain a cadence for timely feedback to direct/indirect reports
  • Ensure adherence to company policy on performance objectives
  • Provide feedback and support to development plans that support associates’ internal career progression
  • Develop, sustain and adapt training programs that are implemented through standard work practices that enable value streams to meet their business requirements
  • Communicate requirements using a team-based approach to accomplish goals and objectives of the business
  • Verify that all employees conduct business with high integrity and in conformance with company policies
  • Ensure your leadership team and production employees are organized, trained and drive daily management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assure product quality is continuously improved 

Lean Management Practices
  • Foster a continuous improvement environment that effectively leverages daily management to drive safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity
  • Ensure elements of daily management are evident and sustained including root cause analysis for missed metrics
  • Maximize the performance of value streams by implementing and sustaining lean conversion principles to meet customer requirements
  • Drive and mentor Danaher Business Systems (DBS), while championing an environment of teamwork and associate engagement
  • Lead and engage employees during Kaizens to drive continuous improvements
  • Maximize productivity and manufacturing efficiency of production
  • Manage cost, quality, schedule, inventory and health, safety & environmental activities for the value stream
  • Ensure the shipment goals, business goals, customer requirements and production plans are achieved and that manufacturing capacity meets the sales plans
  • Ensure a safe working environment exists consistent with OSHA; and, company policies and safety equipment is maintained and effectively used
  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations
  • Work independently with little supervision and direct work priorities of associates
  • Develop work cells for product families which challenge employees to develop state-of-the-art processes while using such items as on-line process information, cross functional job descriptions and Kanban
  • Lead day and off-shift operations and on-call responsibilities, including weekend shift coverage rotations

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • B.S. with Minimum of 14+ years experience in manufacturing or Masters with 12+ years experience in manufacturing with 4+ of those year in a leadership role.
  • Experience in direct support of manufacturing product value streams with team sizes in excess of 50 people
  • Solid experience using continuous improvement tools and methodologies
  • Leadership: Willingness to work on the shop floor and lead by example; ability to influence decision making with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, bring teams to agreement. High tolerance for ambiguity
  • Communication:  Interpersonal skills that build productive relationships and influence others, both within the business and across organizations.  Ability to interact with all levels of the business (senior leaders to working teams), exceptionally good listening skills, able to present complex or new ideas with clarity and simplicity
  • Teamwork:  collaborate effectively with others in the spirit of common objectives
  • Planning and Execution: Excellent project management and prioritization skills. Solid business acumen. Able to deliver results despite shifting environment
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data. Innovative and effective solution development, risk mitigation and execution. Hands-on experience with most of the following Lean / Problem solving tools: Lean, voice of the customer, benchmarking, quality function deployment, control charts, standardized work, etc.

  • Familiarity with Oracle ERP & business applications
