Description

We are looking for great talent, for future opportunities.   This is an evergreen / pipeline position, to help us proactively identify potential candidates for future openings.


Designs, builds, and tests complex or large-scale, systems, ensuring that the components of the system are integrated functionally. Determines the overall structure of the system, organizes the interaction between components, and evaluates the influence of the environment.  


Pre-Concept, and Concept and Planning Phases:

- Define system architecture to provide desired functionality in product based on User Needs and regional Regulatory Standards.
- Generate the system requirements specification (SRS) based on the architectural decisions and technology choices made.
- Work with engineering disciplines to translate User Needs into System/Subsystem Requirements Specifications (SRS/SSRS) to ensure product achieves performance, functionality and reliability. 
- Decompose system requirements and allocates to subsystems. Lead/oversee the development of SSRS working jointly with the Subsystem Technical Leads to ensure that the content is developed by the appropriate subject matter experts.
- Generate/review/approve controlled documentation for all phases of development, including user need, system requirements, reliability test plans and risk analysis.
- Perform feasibility study in projects where necessary, incorporates modifications into the design. 
- Create frameworks for trade off analysis; ensure risk of non-compliance and related technical risks are mitigated at every stage of the development process.
- Conduct technical design reviews at system or subsystem levels in projects.
- Interface with subsystems and other project stakeholders to ensure that the system objectives are balanced with overall project objectives.
- Complete and maintain the system Risk Analysis documents and ensure the mitigations are in place.
- Lead/participate system/design FMEAs and ensure the mitigations are in place for potential risks. 
- Ensure the system reliability is achieved during design through reliability plans and testing. 
- Review recommended architectural solutions proposed by mechanical/electrical architects and subsystems 
- Identify gaps in design proposals, technical capabilities / techniques, and supports the development of strategies to overcome them through DFM & DFS practices.
- Monitor product cost roll-up throughout product development and takes corrective action as required to ensure the engineering roll-up cost meets the product cost target. 
- Ensure that SCIEX Systems Engineering Processes are adhered to as per internal documents.

Commercialization Phases

- Identify technical risks and makes recommendations for risk response strategies and fallback plans. 

- Define and ensure the system components will integrate successfully to appropriate quality levels. 

- Organize the effort to develop interface control documentation (ICD) with the Technical Leads from each subsystem.

- In risk events that are technical in nature occur, directs the effort to put contingency plans into action, including leading the effort to find work around solutions.

- Under the direction of the Project Manager, monitors and control the following Prototype activities. Instrument configuration, technical problem reporting, verification and validation status, corrective action planning, status reporting and issue closure (JIRA).

- Monitor activities for the development of final test requirements to be passed onto manufacturing process support staff.

- Review and provide technical support to field service documents in projects.

- Support Manufacturing for initial and ongoing production needs.

- Support Sustaining/Value engineering (VAVE) for released products.


- Ensure compliance of operations within area of concern with all relevant EHS regulatory requirement and SCIEX safety policies, procedures and guidelines 

- Other duties/ ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Electronic or Systems Engineering
• Experience in New Product Development environment.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with complex integrated systems.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to drive through multiple projects under tight schedules. 
• DFSS knowledge and experience is preferred.
• At least 3 years’ experience in Mass spectrometry
• Previous experience of the above attributes within an ISO 13485 design & manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
