Danaher’s Life Sciences and Diagnostics teams are looking for bright and innovative individuals to join our iDEAS Program. iDEAS (Innovation Defines Engineers and Scientists) is a highly competitive, inter-site science and engineering program to jump start your career. Over the span of 18 months, this rotational program offers a smooth transition from academia to industry while having the opportunity to work on 3 different, 6 month long projects in both technical and non-technical functions (Commercial, Marketing and IT).

The intent of this program is to provide exposure to the Danaher Business System (DBS), product knowledge, networking, customer site visits, development training, and visibility to product and service functions that will position you to advance your career within the organization.

We are looking for a Scientist for SCIEX who will actively collaborate with key opinion leaders in the Forensics and Forensics Toxicology markets with a focus on applications development. This person will maintain a deep technical understanding of SCIEX product portfolio (hardware, software, consumables) to generate technical content for scientific collateral. This person will understand customer and market problems and competitive environment to define the winning solution. This person will also participate in strategic planning, product positioning and Voice of Customer (VOC) projects to help meet business targets.

This position will be located in Redwood City, California. Our program offers relocation assistance, competitive compensation, benefits, and specialized training. Participants will be assigned Project Leads and a mentor to help guide and navigate them throughout their rotations.

Job Requirements


  • Must have permanent US Work Authorization (US opportunities)
  • Must be fully completed with your degree program and able to start by early July 2019
  • Hands on LC-MS/MS experience; in-depth knowledge or quantitative and qualitative workflows
  •  Demonstrated leadership potential through internships, academic departments, clubs, research projects, etc.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  •  Strong technical knowledge
  • Ability to adapt under conditions of ambiguity, and able to adapt to new assignments
  • Strong data analytics and problem solving skills
  • Strives for innovative solutions, and motivated by continuous improvement
  • Results oriented as an individual and in a team setting– has track record for delivery results, takes ownership and is accountable
Qualifications Specific to Scientist Students:
  • Open to current PhD candidates completing their degree prior to July 2019
  • Postdoc PhD candidates with up to four years post program completion:
    • Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related discipline
      • Peer-reviewed publications, including at least one first author publication
