Description

The Market Development Scientist (MDS) for the Cannabis Market will serve as the regional technical lead to support sales and marketing efforts to drive the cannabis business.  The MDS role will work in close collaboration with the Market Development Manager (MDM), regional sales and applications support scientists, customer collaborators, and global technical marketing to identify, develop, and deliver relevant technical content to drive demand generation and win rate.

The MDS for the cannabis market will be responsible for technical content development, with responsibility for identifying content needs, collecting relevant data, and writing and publishing technical marketing content pieces.  The MDS will participate in field marketing activities, including content development for presentations and posters for regional events and coordination of targeted customer seminars.  The MDS will also support short-term sales efforts, including customer visits and presentations and active funnel war rooms.

Candidate must have a very strong understanding of the Cannabis market, strong LC-MS technical knowledge and hands-on experience, and be skilled at technical writing with strong attention to detail.  Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively and with impact.

Main Position Objective
* Technical content: Own the generation, preparation and management of regional technical content for use by sales, support and marketing (technical notes, posters, presentations, data figures, etc.). Ensure its competitiveness in the market place.
* Event participation:  Create and submit technical presentations and posters for external marketing events, including tradeshows and seminars.  
* Customer collaborations:  Work closely with customer collaborators to stay abreast of market trends and develop technical content in partnership with industry experts and thought leaders.
* Customer training:  Deliver technical training to customers, in-house and on-site, on cannabis-specific applications and workflows.
* Technical sales training:  Develop technical proof point content to substantiate training of sales on the cannabis market and how to position SCIEX for success against our competitors.
* Adhere to the SCIEX Brand Standards and ensure consistency of usage for published technical content within the Americas. 

Additional Contributions
* Support the regional marketing communications plan for the Cannabis market by serving as a technical contributor to outbound messaging and content marketing efforts.
* Collaborate with the applications team in capturing voice of customer for the development and delivery of high impact content relevant to the cannabis market.
* Work closely with and support sales team through technical customer sales presentations
* Participate in regional growth planning by partnering with the market development manager to build a cohesive marketing plan for the cannabis market.
* Conduct routine analyses of competitor technical marketing materials.
* Develop customer success stories & content, and support the deployment of that content across multiple channels, including measurable digital channels.
* Align regional technical content development with global technical marketing processes and procedures.
* Track effectiveness and uptake of content and other key performance indicators including short-term funnel and win rates.

Interfaces with Others
Internal: Market Development Managers, Sales, Global Technical Marketing, Staff Scientists, Field Applications, and Service organizations
External: KOL’s, End users and potential customers, partners, other Danaher companies

Job Requirements



Qualifications

* BS, MS degree in life sciences or related technical field
* 5+ years hands-on LC-MS/MS experience, with in-depth knowledge of quantitative workflows in applied applications (cannabis applications, preferred)
* Solid laboratory and technical troubleshooting skills
* Experience managing technical projects from inception to completion
* Exceptional writing and communication skills
* Strong presentation skills, specifically in scientific, technical sales settings
* Adept at using Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) for technical presentation development
* Proven ability to influence, work, and communicate effectively with peers
* Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven, work environments

Additional Requirements: 
Travel >50% of time
