We are looking for a proactive and passionate Science Lead who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide scientific support for the research and development efforts for all Leica Biosystems initiatives

Your role includes:

  • Lead small teams with manageable risks and resource requirements within discipline.
  • Coordinate key activities within team, communicate risks to committed milestones and liaise with PMO to determine business priorities.
  • Draw on wider technical groups for risk identification & mitigation.
  • Apply rigorous and methodical approaches in compliance to international quality standards, to everyday work activities in order to achieve the best outcome in meeting company milestones.
  • Ensure test plans and reports are written, signed off and approved for all phases of development.
  • Provide scientific technical knowledge to LBS programs.
  • Planning and execution of experiments and analysis or interpretation of the results following GLP.
  • Mentor and train Scientific staff.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures at LBS.
  • Achieve best practise safety performance levels.

Job Requirements


What we are looking for:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant science discipline, eg. biochemistry, biology, chemistry.
  • A demonstrated capacity to apply a rigorous scientific approach as well as produce development or research plans.
  • Strong problem solving, technical troubleshooting, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to lead and mentor scientific staff.
  • The ability to communicate scientific ideas and concepts to audiences with and without technical knowledge.
  • Experience working on projects at a detailed technical level and providing technical advice to the project team and/or business.
  • Experience and proven track record in a product development or research environment.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Team player 

Highly Desirable:

  • Immunohistochemistry and/or immunoassay techniques
  • Microtomy
  • Clinical histology
  • Biostatistics
  • Experience in working in a GLP/GMP or NATA accredited environment
