Sales process execution & improvement:

•         Develop annual budgets based on achieving above market growth. Deliver budgeted performance;

•         Drive rigorous business processes across a decentralized site structure;

•         Define overall strategy for the sales function with short-and long-term plans in place globally to execute strategy;

•         Develop effective competitive sales and demo strategies globally with an emphasis on driving above market growth.

•         Build a sustainable best in class commercial process, metrics, and compensation programs to effectively drive this function;

•         Proactively present, minimize and manage business risks;

•         Establish, review and oversee the implementation of policies and procedures that ensures strict compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

•         Interface with local and regional support function teams including marketing, customer support, logistics and distribution, human resources, IT, and finance.

Talent Management:

•         Build and develop a high performance team (incl. effective change management) that is “best in class.” Constantly maintains a mind-set focused on recruiting top talent. “The Best Team Wins.”

•         Oversee the development of direct reports with an active succession plan in place.


•         Embrace the Danaher core values, and ensure all associates are actively engaged in the achievement of the company growth objectives;

•         Provide leadership in measuring and improving results through a metrics-driven, continuous improvement culture;

•         Drive existing team to accept nothing less than a results-oriented focus;

•         Provide leadership for each country to ensure they achieve established targets and are accountable for key performance objectives in terms of sales, market share and profitability;

•         Ensure that all parts of the Germany/South sales organization continually strive to increase customer satisfaction;

•         Continuously drive Voice of the Customer (VOC) back into all parts of the business to ensure customers’ interests are prominently positioned.


Commercial and Market-facing:

•         Advocate for the customer for product quality and for providing excellent customer solutions;

•         Build brand awareness and preference for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics products.

•         Ensure strong understanding of the marketplace dynamics including competitive and customer trends.

•         Track competitive market share, win/loss data and fully understand competitive selling strategies.

•         Monitor the scientific and related industry trends, and work with the rest of the executive team to identify new opportunities and enhance business ventures;

•         Represent the organization in customer negotiations, trade shows, seminars, conferences and other official occasions.

Job Requirements


The Person:

Walking into the position, Regional Sales Manager Austria will be joining a dynamic team of accomplished business leaders who share a passion for competing through an entrepreneurial approach in a multi-billion dollar marketplace. The individual will oversee an established, successful group of seasoned and knowledgeable sales professionals. It will be incumbent upon him/her to contribute to immediate and effective relations through interactive communication, exchanging ideas and fostering an environment of teamwork and mutual respect.

In addition, certain personal attributes will be necessary components of the successful candidate’s background for the role:

Requisite Prior Experiences:

•         Substantial experience within a fast-growing, complex business arena;

•         Experience in the medical device, healthcare or life science research industry;

•         Substantial experience within a complex selling organization in a high technology and medical product/service sector;

•         Successfully managed a sales organization;

•         Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across the organization including sales, service, technical support, marketing and business management functions.

•         Experience in regulated markets.


•         Ability to interface with and lead a sales team to achieve maximum results;

•         Extensive experience in developing sales and commercial marketing strategies;

•         Proven ability to develop international pricing and promotional product programs.


•         Proven record of building a strong organization;

•         Proven successful record in sales leadership and staff management, while functioning in a demanding, action-oriented environment. Must have proven credentials of building and leading a results focused high-performance team;

•         Demonstrated strong strategic and analytical skills as well as solid business acumen, experience in profit and loss management and growth achievements;

•         Demonstrated willingness to attract, hire and retain the highest quality talent, including hiring above the incumbent’s competencies where appropriate.

Education: The successful candidate will possess a technical or scientific undergraduate degree with an MBA or equivalent business experience.

Location: Flexible but in the region covered near an airport that allows ability to travel
