Position Summary:
The Repair Technical Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and development of repair technician associates as well as providing primary engineering and troubleshooting support for the equipment in the manufacturing repair center.  The Repair Technical Supervisor also provides problem resolution to repair center issues to ensure the strongest processes to reduce variability and ensure ease of productivity. This position provides engineering support to ensure solid repair processes of existing and new products. The role drives safety, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity for the repair department and plays a key role in assisting the Repair Department Area Manager in growth and profitability.

Additionally, the Repair Technical Supervisor is responsible for resolving first level customer escalations, conducting, maintaining and developing department work instructions, maintaining a strategy that includes equipment selection, design and maintenance of test/troubleshooting equipment in the facility, and continuous improvement (Kaizen and lean manufacturing) in Standard Work, 5S, and to ensure safety, quality and cost goals are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity for Repair Department
  • Supervise and develop team of repair technician / customer support
  • Complete associate performance reviews, employee relations activities, and corrective action in conjunction with Human Resources in a timely and effective manner
  • Develop processes, procedures, test equipment, and tooling used to repair and test final assembly products, related sub-assemblies and new products. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new test systems for new product designs or changes in existing designs; determine calibration specifications, functional and /or environmental test requirements and need for test equipment and fixtures.
  • Develop, maintain and execute product verification and validation test procedures, test plans, and automated test stations 
  • Specify and/or design factory test equipment; prepare documentation to enable fabrication of test equipment
  • Establish and manage action plans to communicate schedule and impact of improvement activities
  • Provide technical assistance and conduct training in the operation and test of new products to repair personnel
  • Prepare calibration and test procedures and related documentation
  • Monitor progress of tests for validity of test conditions, means of measurement and performance of component or unit in relation to specifications
  • Coordinate with appropriate Manufacturing Engineers for repair implementation products, any quality concerns, test processes, and continuous improvement of repair center operations.
  • Manage and develop available labor for the optimum utilization of personnel to meet delivery and productivity goals
  • Ensure that areas are staffed with competent personnel, and that potential supervisory personnel are being developed so that qualified successors are available for key positions within the organization
  • Actively ensure training and development of assigned personnel to maximize productivity 
  • Assure compliance with regulatory directives
  • Assists Repair Department Area Manager in enforcing process changes following kaizen events and completing open newspaper items, as well as serving as replacement to Repair Department Area Manager in the event of his/her absence.
  • Drive problem-solving for productivity related problems
  • Maintain and develop Repair Instructions as needed
  • Resolve first level customer escalations
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Required Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 2+ years of experience leading others in a manufacturing, distribution or repair setting
  • 2+ years of experience of manufacturing or repair and service processes 
  • Excellent writing and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office suite  
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering 
  • Broad detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • 2+ years of experience in fixture design
  • 2+ years of experience in 3D drafting software (Solid Works)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others who to not directly report into role including hourly and salaried employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for results and prioritize
  • Ability to be adaptable to changing environment
  • Experience in manual manufacturing facility
  • Experience in FDA regulated facility 
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Lean manufacturing / problem solving experience 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automation platforms (Lab View, Arduino)
  • Proficiency in hardware, software and/or operating systems environments 
  • Skills in layout, validation, new product development, design and release process, repair development and implementation process, root cause analysis and general troubleshooting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-up.
  • SAP experience
  • Oracle experience
  • Ability to coordinate with various engineering teams both onsite and remote to effectively carry out action plans and solve problems
