Description

A Research and Development Scientist is required to participate in the design and development of state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation and consumables.  A specific focus will be in the area of nano and microflow liquid chromatography.  In this capacity, the candidate will work within multi-disciplinary teams participating in all phases of product development, including new concept realization and product commercialization. The individual will be involved in innovation and problem solving; collaborating with a broad development team; and applying an established product development process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning, organization and execution of research and development activities that include conception, implementation, and experimental evaluation.  Primary focus will be on new and improved instrumentation and workflows for low flow separations and detection, including coupling with mass spectrometry.
  • Collaborate with product marketing and engineering resources on the decomposition of top-level requirements to develop specifications for new product development.
  • Support the product development life cycle, including system design, characterization, verification and validation, and commercial product support.
  • Presentation and documentation of research accomplishments in the form of invention disclosures, internal reviews and reports, and scientific publications and presentations.
  • Troubleshooting and creative problem solving independently and in a multidisciplinary team in the areas of chemistry, analytical workflows, and engineering.
  • Provide scientific and technical support of both internal and external customers and collaborators.
  • Work within a fast-moving team-oriented environment
  • Learn and utilize appropriate process to strengthen ongoing activities

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • PhD (preferred) or Master's degree plus significant experience in Chemistry, Engineering, or Applied Science, or its equivalent.
  • Experience with high performance liquid chromatography, separations science, and detection.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry and coupling nano and microflow separations with MS is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in design and development of analytical instrumentation, preferably in a commercial setting using an established design and development process.
  • Strong instrumentation design (prototyping) and troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, self-motivated team player with strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of achievements in original research
