Position Objective 

  Analyze customer processes and user requirements for engineered process equipment (including different technologies such as fermentation, direct flow filtration, tangential flow filtration etc.) commonly used in the upstream process, also considering requirements of the subsequent downstream process.

  Take ownership and take the technical lead and responsibility from the initial inquiry phase until final sign of the project for mid to large size projects.

  As technical lead discuss, propose, define final engineered technical system solution with the customer including writing technical part of quotation and associated costing. 

  After Order placement execute the proposed engineered system solution based on agreed and defined contractual specification together with a defined project team as project manager and/or process engineer under supervision of an assigned project sponsor. Make sure the project is delivered in accordance to specification, on time and within budget.

Essential Job Functions: 

• Project execution Activities for the entire project life cycle,  including generating all project relevant design documents, handle all project communication internally as well as with customers, close out project according to KPI; in time, in budget, according to customer specification:  70%

• Sales support in the scope of pre-order Projects (generating technical and commercial Quotations for customer specific projects,  customer presentations, technical clarification meetings) 20 % 

• General and Administration 10%

Job Requirements


Minimum Qualifications: 

• Masters or equivalent in Bioprocess engineering, Process engineering, chemical engineering or equivalent. A higher degree in a related subject would be an advantage.

• Minimum 10 years of work experience in the Biopharma industry (on the user side or supplier side). Should have relevant engineering experience for handling Bioreactors. 

• Should have good relationship with customers and suppliers.

Position Competencies 

• Ability to review and comment customer URS for downstream and upstream equipment, and evaluate possible technologies or designs to meet customer requirements.

• Detailed understanding of fermentation, filtration separation and purification technologies used in the up- and also downstream processing (Bioreactors, direct flow filtration, tangential flow filtration, chromatography)

• Knowledge and understanding of the current industry guidelines for designing, manufacturing, testing and documenting biopharmaceutical process equipment. (ASME BPE, GAMP, cGMP, ISPE, etc.)

• Project or process management experience for the execution of system projects in accordance to the defined specifications, time schedule and cost.

• Ability and willingness to work in a multinational and interdisciplinary team with a high degree on travelling.

• Ability to communicate effectively on complex technical / engineering issues at the highest level. Pall internal as well as with the customer.

• Language skills: Proficiency in written and spoken English.
