Description

The Production Operator II will be responsible for peer to peer training; adherence to production schedule; operation, monitoring and improving manufacturing processes; maintaining daily Visual Management Boards (VMB); preventative maintenance of and troubleshooting /issue resolution of manufacturing equipment.

The Production Operator II will work with little supervision and must be able to work independently or in a team environment, as the situation dictates. Additionally, this person will be expected to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with associates at all levels within the organization to obtain/disseminate information needed to run and maintain the assigned manufacturing area.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Assist employees in locating and using Standard Work Instructions (SWI) and controlled training documents (SmartSolve)
  • Prepare training documents for Manager and Process Owner sign off
  • Communicate all relevant information with outgoing and incoming shift Production Tech and/or Operator III to ensure seamless continuity of manufacturing
  • Maintain/adjust production schedule to ensure on-time delivery of products to meet customer demand and ensure execution of the Level Load process
  • Support manager in assigning employees to manufacturing processes based on production needs and level of experience
  • Set-up, start-up, and operation of manufacturing processes using adherence to SWIs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and current Good Documentation Practices (cGDP), until acceptable finished product is realized
  • Monitor Critical-to-Quality (CTQs) media metrics (e.g., Delta-P, KL, Thickness, Basis Weight, etc.) through Statistical Process Control (SPC) to ensure the highest quality media possible
  • Make any needed adjustments to the process using formally documented and approved Corrective Methods (CMs)
  • Review scrap and downtime data sheets at shift end to ensure accurate and timely reporting of downtime and scrap; complete Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) documentation
  • Raise manufacturing process issues in a timely manner to minimize scrap and downtime
  • Support Engineers in Tech Plans; support R&D runs and scale-ups
  • Complete daily updates to the area specific VMB for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP)
  • Perform and document basic equipment maintenance (assembly, disassembly, and cleaning of mechanical components)
  • Perform predictive maintenance with the use of electrical meters, vibration analysis tools, strobe lights, infrared thermometer, etc.
  • Develop and maintain critical equipment spares list and work with the maintenance department to maintain proper storeroom levels
  • Ensure a safe working environment through application of HazMat Handling and GMP practices
  • Troubleshoot and repair all equipment breakdowns during the shift (excludes high voltage equipment or PLC-related breakdowns)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) with 5 years’ manufacturing experience, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Alternatively, Associates degree in a technical (mechanical) discipline with 2 years’ manufacturing experience, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP, MMIS, MVP, etc.)
  • Basic math skills to quantify scrap in various units of measure (e.g. Linear Feet, Sq. Feet, etc.) and downtime in minutes
  • Ability to identify and correct documentation that is inconsistent with current quality system
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice
  • Requires to be screened for 20/30 vision (per SWI34000VSP)
  • Safety first attitude
  • Detail oriented with good organizational and housekeeping skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladders and perform elevated work using a man lift or harness
  • Work with certain solvents (IPA, DMAC, and other common substances)
  • Wear a respirator, which consists of passing a medical survey, pulmonary function test and being medically cleared by a physician

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of GMP, cGDP, and SPC
  • Basic understanding of structured problem-solving approaches
