The Product Planning BU Manager is an important leader within Hach and a key member of the Product Planning & New Ventures leadership team. This position leads a team of highly talented product innovation associates to drive the long-term roadmap and early stage NPD for Hach's broad portfolio, which includes instruments, chemistries, solutions and software. In addition to leading highly talented associates, the successful Product Planning BU Manager will develop and lead the implementation of plans to achieve the company's strategic priorities and KPIs related to NPD.

Provide leadership and drive cross-functional alignment to deliver company objectives, including but not limited to: 
  • Charts the Course:
    • Drive organizational alignment for required changes to successfully build and grow Hach's business through new product development.
    • Ensure the team is doing the right things (focusing on the critical few) and doing things right (leveraging DBS and best demonstrated practices). 
    • Leads the Global Product Planning team to drive innovative business opportunities through design frozen phases of NPD, using rigorous Voice of the Customer and business analysis tools.
  • Drives Innovation & Growth:
    • Own Hach's product roadmap execution. Manage and prioritize Product Planning BU resources to maximize incremental portfolio value, on time delivery, and revenue achievement of NPD projects.
    • Provide input to and guidance of the Problem to Portfolio process to drive innovation strategy
    • Collect and distill Voice of the Customer (VOC) to provide input and feedback to solidify new product development concepts and validate product roadmaps.
    • Own internal process to develop robust global financial forecasts for NPD investments. 
  • Builds People, Teams and Organizations
    • Build and develop a highly-engaged, high performing, growth-oriented team of Product Innovation Managers.
    • Develop global business processes to ensure sustainability and standard work of the Product Planning team.
    • Partner with R&D, Product Management, Marketing, and Sales to develop product roadmaps, improve NPD project planning and execution, and achieve well-executed new product introductions.

Job Requirements


  • BS or BA in Engineering or the Sciences required; MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product definition and product development (including program or project management)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies, drive tactics, and provide leadership in highly dynamic, ambiguous, and complex environments
  • Ability to present highly complex, technical, or difficult messages clearly and persuasively
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to simplify complex issues to drive NPD impact in low vitality and large, global business environments
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly evaluate situations and articulate the critical few needs to drive impact
  • Demonstrated skill at leading a global cross-discipline team with ability to clearly prioritize and manage finite resources
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders with few, less formal touch points and communicate effectively at a global scale
  • Broad and expert knowledge of the Hach Company marketplace, customer applications, and use of Hach products in the market
  • Broad and deep understanding of Voice of Customer research methodologies and applications
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills as required
