Description

Position Summary and Overview State the reason position exists and the objective of the position.
The Product Manager, Image Management Software, will be a key team member that will actively manage the product life cycle of new and existing Aperio ePathology products, including image management and viewer software products across the Healthcare and Life Science markets. The role includes close interaction with sales team members to respond to daily needs related to product configurations and pricing scenarios as well as assisting with regulatory clearances for the image management and viewer portfolio. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Product Management, Digital Pathology Software,  Imaging Solutions . This role is ideal for an individual to develop key experience in product management in a large organization, including product life cycle management, pricing strategy, sales effectiveness, business strategy, marketing and new product development/VOC skills. 

As a Product Manager, you will also assist with executing product development activities. This extends from expanding in the existing product areas and markets to assisting with the development of new products to better serve the entire Pathology Imaging customer base. This position will help develop a unique blend of hands on market, business and technical savvy with the ability to develop big-picture visions, and the drive to make those visions reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand the customer needs, and working with the development team to find innovative solutions to address the broad markets. 

You must be able to communicate across multiple departments. You will work with sales and sales operations to help finalize quotes and RFPs as well as assist Sr. Product Managers and engineering to define product requirements and commercialization plans. You will work with marketing communications to assist with the execution of go-to-market strategies, understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will be an internal and external evangelist for ePathology product offerings, working with the sales channels and customers.  You will be a key member of the Product Management Team to integrate Leica Image Management and viewer software solutions with the Aperio Image Capture and Analysis Tools.

Major Responsibilities List of Responsibilities/Activities/Duties/Tasks
  • Assist with managing the Leica Biosystems Image Management and viewer product lines through the complete product life cycle from strategic planning to production and launch, including regulatory clearances. 
  • You will work to become a PI Image Management and viewer expert.
  • You will help to identify market opportunities, assess competition, write business cases and help establish the product strategies and roadmaps.
  • You will execute product pricing strategies.
  • You will assist with specifying market and customer requirements in healthcare and life sciences for current and future products by conducting market and customer research supported by on-going visits to customers and  potential customers – define marketing and product requirement documents with prioritized features and corresponding market need and financial justifications.
  • Develop and execute plans for beta and pilot programs to support product release. 
  • Work closely with Marketing to develop and implement the company-wide go-to-market plans, working with all departments to execute and launch. 
  • Know your business, assist with developing and executing visions and communicate your business analysis to upper management.
  • Represent the company at conferences, trade shows and other customer focus events.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in marketing, life science or engineering, or equivalent 
  • Healthcare or Life Science experience desirable
  • IT and medical device hardware background highly desirable

  • 4+ years product management or marketing experience, preferable for imaging products and/or medical devices in the health care or life science industry.
  • SalesForce.com software experience

Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, most work is in an office environment setting.  Lighting and temperature are adequate.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • May be required to work over the weekend for special program events, including tradeshows.
  • Must be able to travel internationally, if needed.
