Description

To provide effective and efficient support of in-production products and launch of new products into the production environment.

Instrumental in designing and accurately documenting engineered products via engineering drawings and specifications, which will be used by multiple disciplines (materials, procurement, sales and customer service, production and quality) to operate the business unit.

Responsibility for ensuring ongoing design and documentation of process and operation changes.

Major Responsibilities 
  • Carry out all facets of the engineering function including, but not limited to:
  • Develop testing protocols to evaluate production methods to improve consistency and reduce variation
  • Implement upgrades in equipment and layout changes to optimize production flow and efficiency
  • Construct and execute validation testing on equipment and process modifications
  • Evaluate and select equipment to support process upgrades and new product introductions
  • Partner with R&D as part of manufacturing transfer an scale up for new product introductions
  • Engage with manufacturing teams and direct labor 
  • Update project budgets and implementation schedules 
  • Ownership for design transfer of new products
  • Assist in maintaining manufacturing compliance reports and records
  • Preparation of reports including some on an ad-hoc basis
Audit work including:
  • Qualitative audit on information accuracy during agency and internal inspections 
Reporting:
  • Produce daily and weekly operational analytical reports as required including report design and format/layout using Excel or any other relevant systems
  • Provide project management charts for executive review
Safety:
  • To actively engage in ensuring a safe working environment for all associates within the company
  • To ensure timely treatment and reporting of an safety incidents that do occur
  • To ensure engineering teams consider product safety as the number one priority in design and product support activity
Quality:
  • To ensure internal quality objectives for in production diagnostic consumables are achieved on a monthly basis
  • Adequate verification and review of engineering changes prior to implementation
  • Compliance with company quality policy and procedures
Delivery:
  • Product engineering activity contributes to on time delivery
Cost:
  • Support purchasing team cost reduction initiatives
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering activities
  • Innovation:
  • Support R & D efforts to facilitate on-time completion of transfer to manufacture activities

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Education:  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related degree with 5-8 years of experience in Medical Device Industry
Experience/Skills:
  • Experience with designing, layout, testing and validating chemical processing production equipment
  • Experience interfacing with and supporting commercial manufacturing in a cGMP regulated environment
  • Experience leading/project management experience
  • Proficient in CAD software tools like AutoCAD, Solid Works, PCAD, ORCAD and PADS
  • Willingness to take on challenging assignments in all areas of the plant
  • Willingness to spend a significant amount of time on the manufacturing floor to understand the issues the mechanics, and operators face daily
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills with a proven ability to influence and drive change/results
  • Must posse4ss a high level of motivation and resourcefulness
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Travel: 0% to 10%:  Travel may be required for training, customer support and/or ad=hoc

  • Drive hands-on simulation expertise focusing on data collection/testing exposure combined with tools knowledge for predictive modelling
  • Passion for continuous learning and improvement of product, process and technology
  • Demonstrate sound project planning and technical leadership to manage multiple priorities, tasks and deliverables
  • Drive execution model to enable team deliver on FTY/OTD of all Engineering TG deliverables
  • Demonstrates passionate commitment to application of KAIZEN/VSM methods and tools to daily work of team members in a LEAN environment
  • Sets and delivers team stretch goals, drives decision making and critical reasoning
  • Highly self-motivated, excellent project planning and tracking skills, strong interpersonal skills, assertive communications and influencing skills
  • Drive workouts, brainstorming sessions, leveraging tolls to innovate, ideate and engage team to deliver on differentiated products
  • Conduct technical reviews not limited to drawings, designs, concerts, models, documentation per applicable codes and standards/internal design guidelines/design practices
Internal Relationships: 
  • Reports directly to the Manager of Engineering and Maintenance
  • Receives design feedback from R & D, product management, VOC, Quality, technical service manager, production managers, and sales representatives
